Believe it or not, even though I have had a Twitter account for over three years, today October 1, 2012, is when I tweeted my first tweet on Twitter. Some may chuckle and say: what a twit Oloo is! Pity I am no wit, even though Twittersphere is full of witless twits like yours truly...Anyways for those who may wish to follow me:twitter.com/OnyangoOloo

I've always wondered if there were fellow "Twits" (aka Tweeps) on Jukwaa! I have an idea: Let's recommend some people to follow. After all, it's not just about keeping in touch with friends in real life. Twitter gives you a chance to "connect" with famous folks whom you'd love to share a coffee with. And it feels kind of personal, especially when they respond to one of your tweets. Here are some folks I'd recommend: @bonifacemwangi A member of the "Cheetah generation". No introduction needed. twitter.com/bonifacemwangi@bankelele An "ex-banker". Has his finger on the Kenyan business pulse. twitter.com/bankelele@jasonkstearns An expert on the rebel situation in DRC. twitter.com/jasonkstearns@hsmpress Al-Shabab's official twitter. twitter.com/HSMPress@myc_Press A terrorist group affiliated with Al-Shabaab. Operating in Kenya and Tanzania. twitter.com/MYC_Press@ayittey Ghanian economist, intellectual, activist. You want him to be your president. twitter.com/ayittey@martinplaut BBC Africa Editor. Sometimes gets Kenyan news before the Kenyan media itself. twitter.com/martinplaut@bbcandrewh BBC Africa correspondent. Same as above! twitter.com/BBCAndrewHBy the way ... I follow Al-shabaab for sheer comedy - nothing more. Read this link for more info: www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2012/03/02/terrorists_on_twitter_the_strange_twitter_account_of_al_shabaab.htmlAnother interesting thing about Twitter is the "re-tweet". A nugget of information might make it's way from the depths of Somali tweet-dom to my home page. For example, here's one I saw today: "Kismayo resident says the market there closed for a third day. Many businesses not trading. Still no sign of the Kenyans in town"

Fantastic idea Amadain! I like your list already following some but will update my followers based on your recommendations. In addition: @kenyanpundit Co-founder Ushaidi, Google Policy Manager Africa -technology, leadership, interesting articles especially Sunday reads twitter.com/kenyanpundit@ coldtusker hard to keep up sometimes lots of . Eclectic posts current KOT issues. twitter.com/coldtusker@cobbo3 Charles Onyango-Obbo very interesting and thoughtful articles. twitter.com/cobbo3@calestous no longer follow him too many tweets but refer to his TL every so often. twitter.com/Calestous@chiefkariuki a Chief based in Nakuru for an understanding of how technology is changing real lives in Kenya (tweets everything from missing goats to real time requests for assistance) twitter.com/chiefkariuki

Mukhwasi:Your comment is very telling, especially since you were the FIRST to announce that you will allegedly "pass." They say that people who claim not to care, ACTUALLY CARE TOO MUCH. Onyango Oloo

Oloo
As long as you do not turn it into an activity that takes over your life, but there are interesting accounts out there such as the Red Cross one which is a treasure trove of traffic information - accidents and road conditions which lead to traffic jams! The media house accounts are the worst as all they regurgitate is what they had in their papers whilst breaking news should have been what they post. Then there are other such as Robert Alai who will flood you with all sorts of information whilst others such as Crazy Kenyan will constantly leave you in stitches!

Onyango Oloo OO, I don't know what to make of your choice of colour of text & caps of the phrase "ÄCTUALLY CARE TOO MUCH". Since it isn't quite red & far from orange to my lay man's eye it looks kinda pink. Can't that be construed as being homophobic? (Given context of caring too much?)

The best joke I have heard recently was about twitters ... a guy (a "twit?") says that his twitter was not working, so he decided he would just go around announcing his twits on a loudspeaker .... "I didn't have a good sleep last night ...." .... "I am sitted at the airport ..." ... "woo, my cat" .... he would roar on his speaker, and wondered why people were not listening yet they seem enthusiastic when he is able to twit similar stuff.
