Ndugu Oloo, I prefer to reference this under the on-going Nairobi county thread. There, I have been following the story of the class-ganging up against uncooth Ferdinand. And I think this is the latest episode in his quarantinisation!

Uhuru has read the guys the riot act and told them to support Waititu! And it was quite a show with a very serious Uhuru being presidential and commanding over his supporters! Finally he has Nairobi back in order and just murdered the political career of Jimnah Mbaru!

We can now clearly see their management in display. Yaani Uhuru honestly thinks Waititu is better material than Mbaru? Anyhow Uhuru also selected Waititu's running mate rejecting the Lawyer Waititu has chosen. This means that Uhuru wants to run Nairobi. I think Evans Kidero takes this one.

Here is the Governor of Nairobi Born in Majengo, to a father who was a policeman, and a mother who was a homemaker, Dr. Evans Kidero grew up in a large extended family of 7 children, where he was the eldest. Dr. Evans Kidero attended primary school in Nairobi, and completed secondary school at Mangu High school where he was the Head Boy. Dr. Kidero went on to attend the University of Nairobi, where he graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and thereafter got his first job working as a pharmacist at Kenyatta National Hospital. He went on to obtain a Masters of Business Administration in 1990 at United States International University in Kenya. These qualifications, his personal abilities and the hand of God set him on the path for an illustrious career in corporate management. The highlights of this career include: 4 years at Warner Lambert, 12 years at SmithKline Beecham Healthcare International, 2 years at the helm of Nation Media Group, and (most recently) 10 years in the stewardship of Mumias Sugar Company. It is from Mumias that Dr. Kidero recently resigned to pursue a political career in Nairobi county governorship. From a 28-year career in the competitive corporate environment, Dr. Kidero has acquired leadership and management skills that make him a suitable candidate for a job that requires experience, competence and caring. Dr. Kidero’s results speak for his competence, as he left a track record of business success at each of the organizations that he led. At Mumias, where he was the first ever Kenyan MD, he turned a run down, failing business into a resounding success. Today Mumias Sugar accounts for 60% of the country’s sugar sales, and under his leadership, has diversified into a series of related businesses from the by-products of sugar manufacturing, including generation of electricity and sales of bottled water. Dr. Kidero’s caring leadership style is evident in the welfare arrangements he put in place for the staff of these organizations, which has earned him loyalty from those whom he led over the years. Dr. Kidero is married to Dr. Susan Mboya-Kidero, who complements him with a passion for women’s economic empowerment and the education of girls. Susan is the Director for Women’s Economic Empowerment at Coca-Cola Eurasia and Africa, and also the founder of Zawadi Africa, a non-profit organization that obtains scholarships to enable academically gifted but financially disadvantaged girls to attend university mostly in the United States. The Kidero’s are blessed with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Dr. Kidero’s own improbable story of success is what has inspired him to run for Governor. Dr. Kidero believes that he owes his achievements to the excellent systems and services that were available to him growing up in Nairobi, but that are no longer available to the people of Nairobi. Although he came from very humble beginnings, he benefitted from the affordable and good quality education and healthcare that was available then, he grew up on safe and clean streets of Nairobi, and he was employed by a Government which, at the time, was able to provide job opportunities to the youth. Dr. Kidero would like to restore Nairobi to its former glory, and give all Nairobi residents the facilities and opportunities that they need for their families to progress and flourish. The job of a Governor is a management job that requires a deep understanding of the challenges facing someone growing up or living in Nairobi today. Dr. Kidero’s own personal experience in overcoming the challenges of growing up in Nairobi with minimal resources, and his vast business experience make him an ideal candidate for the role as the first Governor of Nairobi County.

His running mate... Jonathan MuekeAt the age of 36, with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Global IT and Entrepreneurship, Jonathan Mueke brings to the top management of the Nairobi County youth, digital intelligence and entrepreneurial skills — just what Nairobi needs to face the challenges of youth unemployment, development of cyber technology, and establishing 21st century business solutions. Moreover, Jonathan’s education and training are boosted by an admirable chain of practical experiences in technical and managerial appointments, including IT Systems developer, IT Systems administrator, Information technology manager and directorships at local and foreign establishments, such as K-Mart Corporation (USA), Daimler Chrysler Corporation (USA), Spartan Developers Ltd (Kenya), and many others. He is currently a director at eManage Africa Ltd. Jonathan is not just an intelligent hard and smart working young man seeking and exploiting opportunities for his own good; he clearly has a heart for the public good. His community service record includes serving as: founder member, Kenyans for Obama (USA); renovating Kangemi children’s centre (class 1-8 primary school); donating 1000 primary school textbooks to over 20 low income schools in Westlands; sponsoring a soccer tournament (Githogororo 8 teams); and patron, jobless corner, ENN(to empower jobless youth in Kangemi/Mountain view wards) among others. Jonathan’s leadership potential has been identified both in professional and political spheres, earning him honors locally and abroad, e.g. his status as an elected member of Strathmore Who’s Who in leadership (USA) and his chairmanship of the Lavington Investment Club Ltd. His leadership abilities often show in situations which require an innovator, one who can get new ventures started. This is clearly demonstrated by the many organizations he has founded, launched, expanded or served in as a committee member including: Wasanii Mtaani youth group (Kangemi); President, Kenya Community Abroad (USA); and sponsor, African Divine Church expansion project (Kangemi and Westlands regions)

Kamalet,Shukrani, Intriguing, in my alma mater, when you have a masters in Pharmacy you have a MPharm, then if you add another 4 years, you get licensed and you are refered as Pharmacist or Dr. Kidero has a bachelor in Pharmacy, meaning he cant prescribe meds. I thought you were questioning the academic credentials. In Kenya, I think that those who studied pharmacy at Chiromo are called Dr. I think it was considered a branch or specialisation of medicine. All the people I know who studied pharmacy are Dr. Perhaps this is different in other jurisdictions. Not so for clinical Officers, they are no supposed to call themselves Dr.

We want him/her to be accountable to us aka the people. This is an executive office. The idea that we should consider Waititu because somebody else will be calling the shots since the governor is deemed incompetent and clueless is offensive. The Governor has a job to do and we do not expect his deputy or county secretary (however good) to do that job for him, they too have their roles. Happily, with Dr. Kidero, we have no such fears.

You sure have a warped way of looking at it! YT2 is not yet governor but his party is telling him he cannot go supporting people of other parties to the detriment of candidates nominated in his own party! If you were to persist with this line of argument, then what is your view of the shenanigans involved in the nomination of governors in Siaya and Kisumu? Would the imposition of candidates fall you this line you pick for Nairobi?

Kamalet, The blunder was when Uhuru failed to squash Jimna's pitch, that he, Jimnah, was the party darling, and Ferdinand a bastard. UK could have done this by accompanying Waititu to some of his slum bases! It would have sent an electrifying signal that he, UK, had accepted the popular verdict! It seems like some information has led the Boss to bring in Waititu from the cold. That information can only be one: Waititu has a base, and that base will not be loyal if Mr. Punjab is continuously exorcised, apparently by the party bureaucracy.

One thing for sure is Waititu will benefit from the 6 piece voting .TNA is a very popular party in the city and just like 1992 when Ford Asili took most of the seats in Nairobi City so too will TNA.
