www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-154815/uhuru-didnt-get-50-2013-us-academicsjust as an academic exercise purely divorced from falsehoods and other manipulations but in our case....my brother says it nicely.... You are wrong, good professors! In Africa we have both "exit" polls, and "resident" polls! You see, in the process of voting, we already have stuffed boxes. The ghosts that voted in that sham mess, never exit the polling station, hence the terminology "resident". After the election, we "seal" the ballot boxes and then some RAO votes "exit" as the counting circus commences at Bomas.

OO, methinks your backpack toting pal conceded this election almost a year ago. Let it go. Move on. Or are you the scout lobbing balloons to test the air according to certain scenarios I have seen elsewhere?

My so called "back pack toting pal" is none other than the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court, Dr. Willy Mutunga. I do not believe he is your age mate-probably closer to your grand pa's age. Please show some RESPECT for his office, even if you blithely think that only thing going for him is a bag he carried on his back. 2 .Onyango Oloo is NOT the author of the study published by the Journal of Eastern Africa Studies; none of the authors was a voter in the 2013 Kenyan elections, so stop with the unnecessary ad hominem side swipes. 21st Century scholars, historians and researchers are still discussing and debating PAST events like the Battle of Waterloo, the Plague, the Opium Wars, Cuito Cuanavale, the Suez Crisis and the Black Power movement. Do NOT attempt to silence me-because you are unable to anyway-especially on Jukwaa. Onyango Oloo Nairobi

Exit polls,Ocampo's take on the ICC cases are for me non-issues,i say so because in a developing country like ours,we are yet to reach a level where exit polls can be used as instruments of judging how the actual voting has taken place, people will tell you what you want to hear.CORD was in most peoples' minds the most popular party however, this may not necessarily translate into actual votes cast.Without going back to the now well known facts about how the election was conducted,my humble view is that this exit poll is not worth anything to us now.
Ocampo did a shoddy job then comes from nowhere talking about how he had more evidence on so and so and less on so and so,in my view just a red herring! For those who are experts at exit polls, may, just for academic argument, shed some light on biases that are inherent in such polls.

Are you suggesting that we Kenyans should be a society driven by today's newspaper headlines?
That we should NOT reflect on past events in helping us to project future strategies and interventions?

Exit polls are usually announced before the real results why werent they released during the that period when the results were being tallied as this went on for a record of one week before the official results were announced .
The closest we heard of the exit polls results was when Raila announced that there were 2 western firms which had relayed to him that he won the elections and we were left wondering how come the exit polls were only presented to him and not to the media to broadcast , as it turned out it was a political gimmick and propaganda being used by Raila to save face on his election loss and try to intimidated the Supreme court to rule the 2013 Election petition in his favor and we all know the results .
Thus above abstract should be viewed in the same vein that it is propaganda by CORD/ODM operatives trying to create a rhetoric that UhuRuto never won the elections worse of all coming almost one year down the lane after the election results were announced .So treat it with the contempt it deserves.
Prior to the elections we warned CORD/ODM that they wont win elections by empty rhetoric ,false beliefs and such type of propaganda , well they argued that elections are won by perception , we all know how it ended the elections were won by numbers what has now become famous as "tyranny of numbers ". An advice to CORD/ODM instead of advancing such oratory , go back to the drawing board evaluate and look at the reasons why you lost and try to create new strategies which will make you a stronger candidate in 2017 elections but it seems you never learn , didn't learn in 2007 and also from the ODM infighting between 2008 and 2012 and its for the same reasons we are seeing the same terrible mistakes you did as can be attested also on the on goings prior to ODM Feb 28 elections.

OO my senior,my take is that History is very important for understanding future trends, however, where such history serves no good purpose then it stunts growth and future actions. As we talk now,the electoral process is already underway and i personally like what CORD is doing now to get a team to lead it into the next elections, but are other Institutions doing a review of their performances with a view to improving on areas where they fell short?Of what value is the Exit poll to us now?Iam hard pressed to find any reasons now, timing is of the essence if it is to serve any useful purpose.
However, iam not opposed to the thread per se as it affords us a chance to ventilate on the pros and cons of exit polls, their weaknesses and strength.

Considering you are a mere 5 years older than me (which makes you practically my age mate!), if the CJ is your grandpa's age he's nowhere close to either of mine, who long ago joined my other ancestors. Heck, even my late dad was much older than your pal. So drop the ageist crap bwana admin. It contravenes your forum's code of conduct. Secondly, why would I even attempt to silence you when you do a good job of it yourself? Have you forgotten you abandoned the Matsanga thread with your tail between your legs after a feeble ad hominem attack on the good Dr? I'm still waiting for you to debunk his missive on the status of the OTP based on the points he made, not your allegations on his character. You resorted to the same "low blow" tactics that were used against your other pal, MM when his message in his book was too hot to handle. I'm not here to silence you or anyone else for that matter. Just keeping y'all honest by calling out BS when I see it...

However, iam not opposed to the thread per se as it affords us a chance to ventilate on the pros and cons of exit polls, their weaknesses and strength. when one reads...many people have come to accept such psychodynamic concepts as unconscious drives and unresolved conflicts, as well as their impact on the way we interact with different persons. General agreement also exists in the lay-public regarding the ways that such defense mechanisms as denial, projection, repression, and regression are commonly used when people experience heightened anxieties and stressors in their lives (Freud, 1982). www.sagepub.com/upm-data/40556_1.pdf then the tie between Past Influences, Present Trends, and Future Challenges in Counseling and Psychotherapy reminds one of a sure method of also dealing with a nation-state psychosis. if we have a portion of us happy with a thieving PORK like we had the nusu mkate arrangement and another portion equally on not content with the thieve as PORK we progressed to the 2013 election knowing that the Constitution dispensation allowed those not happy with the arrangement top cocoon in their devolved governments. now if we reinforce that image of a thief as PORK again this time we need to start building new codes to deal with the next thieving PORK ....and their in lied the beauty of knowing what happened.
