Why does the lady so confidently believe that governments know? Here is my idea: The plane was hijacked by extraterrestrials ... the humans in it are now helping to bridge the human and extra human civilizations - what a noble end for humanoids!
Unlike the lady in the story I don't at all question the possibility that a plane even the size of New York city (had there been one) could disappear under the ocean to defeat finding technology .. does she appreciate the size of mother earth that's under water? Obviously not! Even a whole Kenya-size plane would not be impossible to lose at sea .. methinks.
This one though, let there be no more conspiracies. I can tell you in not uncertain terms that it was the extraterrestrials ... may be from Mars, upset with recent human activity in their backyard.
I don't settle without conclusions ... so I have had to dream a solution to this plane mystery. Solved!

Mank The loss of Malaysian MH370 is not any different to the loss of the KQ flight somewhere in the Cameroun forests which took just over day to find. The problem is the over-reliance on technology to the extent the human brain no longer is given a chance to think! No one ever thought the transponders of the aircraft could ever be switched off rendering the route of an airline unknown. MH370 may have been lost to terrorists or evil minded people who took advantage of this one human failure of trusting technology to manage everything! The human race is now completely lost on where the aircraft crashed (or landed!!)because it cannot think beyond the last ping of the transponder and theories are only based on what people think the route would have been!!! Before the advent of the calculator it was very easy to calculate the square-root of 2025 which the calculator tells me is a double digit number! There is one for you!

Intriguing Kamale, your theory of our technological curse, but I am not impressed by your equalization of a disappearance in the high seas to disappearance in the African forests. If you are not already biased by some of the conspiracies out there you know there were several pings over the Indian Ocean which only indicated places the plane had been to ... then it disappears without a trace, and not in a forest ... if people are not willing to admit that the vessel sunk, then I give the only other possibility ... it shot into outer space, under alien control, with no planned return. If it was in a forest, especially in Africa, poachers would probably have found it by now while going about their business. I must say though I found it interesting that authorities were quick to dismiss a fisherman who said he and a buddy had seen a big plane flying real low (somewhere on the route plotted by the pings). Apparently they did not want to credit witness claims as they would not know what was real from fabrication - there again your technological curse. There have of course been other theories advanced, that the vessel was safely landed on some remote island where it is being primed for a clandestine project . ... I hate that theory because it is so difficult to debunk in the absence of tangible evidence of contrary course of events, yet so ripe for the taking especially by grieved families who hunger for any glimmer of hope. That is why I suspect me amigo Wanyee will be covering that theory down the road .

ManK The reference to the forest was in relation to the Kenya Airways (KQ) flight that crashed in the forests of Cameroon rather than MH370. Talking of conspiracy theories...have you considered the possibility that the aircraft actually may have reached China and the chinese are stealing the Boeing technology? (Ok this is silly but I heard about it and got curious!!). My view is that the technology curse stops us from properly thinking how the aircraft would have been lost perhaps basing our theories on probabilities derived from the same flawed technology!

Kamale, I think all conspiracies will be dwarfed by Wanyee's when it finally drops in. But like you I think we can pronounce this latest one dead on arrival ... the Chinese would have to hide the Boeing from everyone, and find a solution to all the human cargo. I think its an impossible mission to pull without a smoking gun. I was not lost on what you said about the KQ flight ... I was taking issue with your suggestion that Malaysian Light MH370 should have been just as easy to find.
