Kamalet,
This guy Michuki was only loyal to the golf playing bourgeois and had no time for the 'common man' that is a trait that he carried from pre to post colonial days.
Because of that he had no qualms in sanctioning extra judicial killings as long as it was not the ruling class receiving it.
His orders in internal ministry was to address the symptom of the problem and not the problem itself. By silencing the underclass using a shock and awe strategy he continued to protect interest of landowners from these 'pests' never asking why were these 'pests' doing what they were doing.
Justification of such brutality and asking the matter be left the parents of the youth to worry about is exactly the raw capitalist everyone-for-himself mantra common to this group where everything is expendable including lives as long as it is the voiceless and penniless whose utility only shows every 5 years at the ballot box.
Many of those parents in Muranga you mention do not have access to the net, knowledge or finances to offer any counter arguments. Together with their cousins languishing in IDP camps they probably would not appreciate such contempt.
Don't forget that when it was expedient, according to ICC ruling, the same youth were marshaled to protect the interest of the very people that had been killing them. And soon after wards they again started disappearing.....They masters power retention agenda having been fulfilled.
Hope you note the fallacy in your argument.....

Another chauvinist dies and becomes idolized.
Is this not the former chair of GEMA outfit. Was this outfit good for Kenya? Did he not attempt to change the constitution for personality's sake? What of the PEV suspicions?
He may have had his good side (like generosity) but as a politician we should judge him by whatever good he add to THE WHOLE of Kenya.

tnk,
Right on point.
In Kenya it seems we celebrate someone for just doing his job. Says a lot about our level of expectations from leaders.
And it seems just by doing your job can wipe off all the ills from your past .
We are a nation of selective amnesia, low expectations and quasi intellectuals.
If our hero is a former collaborator who subverted press freedom and national sovereignty and displayed open disregard to the law i wonder who our villains can be.
In our Kenya even Pattni can fill up church pews!
And yes.........
Our other Heroes are currently conducting prayer rallies!

Kalonzo has distinguished himself in singing praises to his political masters from Moi days.
All he wanted for this was his small space in the sun- state jobs for himself and his functionaries. To stay relevant he stood for nothing for fear of displeasing his masters and thus has not left a mark in government worth noting only a reputation of a hanger on.
Thinks came to the open when an idea struck him that he can be PORK, probably inspired by the admired run of Ngilu under SDP.
He chose to do so the easy way and was un noticed until revelations that came post '07 debacle blew his cover. Revelation that he knew he would not win and pre arranged to join goverment and then proceeded to pressure Kivuitu to make it a reality was damaging. But his waterloo came from dithering on the new constitution which Kenyans had sought for 2 decades.
The snitching he was doing with envoys and the begging that they pressure kibaki to allow him to rule did not help either and only got Kalucy seething with anger.
Candid confirmation, that opportunism was not just a political ploy but a personal trait came from they envoy who saw through him and proffered him the contemptuous title of an intellectual dimwit.
By the time he offered to undertake the doomed shuttle diplomacy everyone knew him for what he is and true to character he is now again begging to stay put in G7.
This chameleon like, flip-flopping lazy approach to politics is what earns him the lowest marks from me of all the contestants. They just see him as a way to shore up their numbers but want him to shut the hell up and do as told. They barely hide the contempt by blowing smoke to his face as they lecture him and like a kid in his first days in high school he takes it ....which is just as well for even he himself believes not in what he says or does.
Why would anyone else.....

Hitler was murderous but he gave the world the Volkswagen- the people's car.
Michuki was the same but to a smaller extent, he is associated with the anti Maumau brutality and the disappearance of youth yet he was also one of the most effective ministers.
His legacy is that he was thorough in his work in either direction, whether for the good of Kenya or against Kenya.
Would i want another like him in government.......No
A tribal chauvinist who put personality before the quest for a new constitution and openly bragged about flaunting the old one-just because he could- belongs to a past era.
Do i admire his personal traits.......Yes
To the extent that he took to his tasks with a passion widely lacking among state servants and yielded results albeit some were morally reprehensible.
Obviously he was no Hitler but on a scale with the German on one side and Mandela on the other he would tend towards the former. Both had an ethos of task effectiveness with little regard to rule of law.
It is good riddance for the bad things, but he will surely be missed for the good he brought to government.
RIP Michuki......you shall be rattled no more.

The alleged broke man that 'sponged' off the late miss C has engaged top notch lawyers. If he is off pocket this will surely take away the last of his coins.
I think the link between Baraton and the deaths is coincidental. For all i know its very likely the victims grew up in Nairobi.
Many cases of murder/suicide never make the media. I know of an institution where 2 students carried through a suicide pact alegedly upon discovering they had contracted HIV.....and it was not Baraton. The story passed below media radar.
The only tangible link in the two is the fame or infamy of the characters involved and the claims of foul play in the tragic demise of young lives that otherwise still had a lot to offer.

Moi cut a pitiable figure in the last days of Kenyatta, he was considered a non entity, just a passing cloud and a figure head to display multi-tribal credential of the regime.
This went on into the early days of his presidency when the likes of GG would squeeze into his official limo.
In the 2+ decades in power especially after '82 nobody was calling him meek and pliable anymore.
Kalonzo current predicament makes him a pitiable and contemptuous figure at the same time, yet in our history we have been led by such characters- Who never truly fought for the seat but rather eased into it.
Kenyatta senior ushered in from detention by Jaramogi. Moi the passing cloud, due to the demise of Kenyatta senior after escaping a plot to clip him. Kibaki 'the general kaguoya' thanks to anti Kanu-moi project feeling in 2002 and the 'Kibaki tosha' endorsement.
IMO people vote on compromise. For the least despised politician in the lineup who is most likely to win.
What seems imporobable today may becomes tommorows reality, politics changes each day. Today's a Kaloozer/Kajudas/Watermelon......... in 2013 he may just as well be your president.
Our history does not contradict that possibility.

This duo need the prayers more so to psychologically reassure themselves - with the 'adoration' of large crowds and medley of praise singers - that all is well. They seek the sympathy by playing on tribal affiliations and wild arguments that blame their predicament on one man.
Am sure when they are alone they shudder the dark cloud looming overhead. In their heightened suspicion they seek to cut off anyone who tries to infuse a dose of reality in the charade or seems to harbour ulterior motives. Their smarter hangers on are already exploring a plan B's thus betraying the fear inside the camp that their goose could be irretrievably cooked.
Another problem with such rallies is that their praise singers are eager to assure them they are more loyal to the course than the next and in the quest attempt to give a more incisive soundbite than the last speaker inadvertently crossing the line from politicking to inciting.
We know things are thick for the two but looking ahead, in the likely event that one of them gets the presidency they will probably try to use the office to dodge the court, and then shall their personal problem become a national problem....thing will be thick for us all! In a stroke we shall be a pariah state ala' Zimbabwe/Sudan.

b6k,
The PM job seems to have been a false story.
While it is too early to apportion blame, legal clean bill of health if ever, will not wash off the tag that this episode will leave hanging over his head.
The stories of a deserted family, extravagance, mega ego and the older women are what will come to mind if this fellow shows up on screen again.
If they are true LO needs to check himself, if its all worth it- living a gigolo life- especially if it leads to such tragic happenings.
He is too old to let this 'am a celeb' thing go to his head last time i checked Tusker does the same thing as Siera beer, tone down to you pocket level bwana......That's if you escape incarceration......

Social media broke this news first, and they had no sympathies for LO for allegedly scamming a diabetic and naive 26 year old into debt and the suspicious death.
With the revamped constitution and unbound flow of information people better walk the straight and narrow.
Today just gagging the radio, and print media will not hide a scandal and anyone's escapades can be tracked by the minute thanks to twitter and its variations.
RIP Coreen, and LO must surely be getting sleepless nights, the matope thrown to his name is even bigger than Baraza's.
His career is now very likely to go the way of Arunga, now reportedly tarmacking in arabia........SAD

I saw a cartoon on the predicament of Kalonzo and thought.....
In the matatu business there are 3 people involved.......
The one who shouts hoarse at the stage calling for passengers. His loyalties never lie with any particular matatu as he fills up any that comes along. He is usually left at the bus stop with a 20 bob or 'finje'.
The one who gets the passengers to 'kaa square', collect fare as the journey commences and usually hand it to the third person.
The one who drives the van.
Sasa makanga wa stage anataka kupanda matatu tena?
The 'makanga wa gari' also should know what will be coming his way should he attempt to dethrone the driver.
Tafakari hayo.

Religion has been known to stand for the weak and oppressed against among others, an overstepping elite , but when it reduces itself to laundering reputations of those accused of subverting the rights of little people then in is in effect negating its role in society.
Jesus respected political institutions (give unto Caesar....) but preferred to do his work among the 'outcasts' not kings and land owners, but his latter day representatives regal us with tales of wealth and pal around with elite regardless of their standing, and publicly betray the warped direction of their moral compass.
Yes, they are obliged to welcome all into their congregation, but when they try to publicly lend credence that God has sanctioned the hate speech rallies where fellow humans are addressed as mashetani and avoid the IDP issue with the same gusto then there is something fundamentally wrong.
Religious institutions are ideally a solace and an unbiased arbiter for all but is of late turning into just another propaganda tool for the political elite, that an insider is trying to highlight the malady is most welcome not withstanding the speck in their own eye....
Dismissing the fathers' concern wholesale is a petty diversion.

walking the talk.........
This man arose in YK '92 days that saw hyperinflation in the name of canvasing 'youth vote' for a KANU election win. Is a youth in 1992 still a youth in 2012.
He has shown that he can disrespect parties (and the spirit of the law) as long as you are technically within the letter of the law. He first moved to a party that did not want him (UDM) and then to one right out of the briefcase (URP) without actually belonging to either of them. Not the one to accuse anyone of lacking msimamo. Along the way he opposed the constitution (against public mood) on flimsy grounds.
The same msimamo he exhibited when he suggested Hague (for its 99 year trial cycle) and when the court seemed a bit quick off the mark, landed there to try clear his name before even being named, while quickly turning in favour of a local tribunal amidst condemnation of foreign influence, coaching of witnesses, the 'O' in the prosecutor's name blah,blah,blah........ being aimed against him by 'mashetani!'
At the Dutch city he tried to 'public baraza' his defense, only for the Lady judge to sit him down, so he turned to 'prayer rallies' alongside his co-accused (and former nemesis in 2007) in town centers around Kenya where his praise singers perpetuate hate speech and stereotyping. No mention of what they want for Kenya just who they don't want.
This is a man who would want us to believe he would ensure the fidelity of our rules and laws.
In the local justice mechanisms he absolves himself at proceedings by getting a key witness into his employ or playing the 'si nirudishe hiyo mali basi?' card against of all people.......an IDP!
He had a 'good' run as agriculture minister, but where are the traces of that legacy in a still very food deficient Kenya. He would want to probably be noted for this and not for another of the points above.
This has been his walk so far, would you wish to receive the rest of his journey dispatches ............from Ikulu ya Taifa?

Just a thought.....
Is it a trend that many women in power tend to be divocees.....too strong for the men in their lives to stay put?
Could this be because they challenge the stereotypical role of a docile domestic assistant that women have been assigned since days yonder?
Accepting a woman leader is crushing these long held beliefs but to do that we need to asses Martha's character and the below comes to mind:
She is known for her combative stance in the 2007 mayhem and was disappointed by the compromised outcome, she thought Kibaki should have stood his ground despite the chaos taking place outside Serena. And that the courts were an appropriate arbiter.
Martha alongside other PNU ministers boycotted meetings by RAO who was effectively their boss, after a blame game over the post-election bloodshed.
Tax dodger Mutula outdid her in the justice docket.
She gave us Sonko the truant.
....Oh and the famous temper.
These proves that she has issues just as all the other pretenders to the throne.
Kenyans will have to choose the lesser evil.....there are no angel in the lineup.
She is much better compared the offering on the lineup but being Kenya......the tribe tag could be a burden.

Toxic marriage,
Plastic friends,
These,-not in that order- led to the descent of the great voice that gave us some timeless music. She sang about love but never had it herself.

His tax problem started .......
"When he defended Kanu against the KICC takeover in 2004" when he "upset a lot of people."
Then the matter went silent until he again upset a lot of people by his stance on the prayer folks eligibility to occupy the house on the hill.
Mutula is no Angel but his message resonates with most. The convenient spilling of beans on his tax tribulations to the public does raise public interest given his cabinet post. But the timing betrays the attempt being made to shift public's attention to the tax issue in a clever ploy to mute the most outspoken voice of reason on the Hague matter. Kalonzo having proven incapable of reigning in on him.
Why did KRA or the bean spillers not cry out in 2010. Does it matter that that he is paying up?
Two of the Enkaterina 4 are clutching at straws to save their skin- this is now a matter that is an urgent priority over the bid for presidency which is relegated to a means to that end.
Now he faces threat of a censure motion by spanner boys for Wakubwa who are part of the lot that locked they wealth declaration forms inside the parliament vaults and refused to pay tax. We all know what would happen if he capitulated and shut his mouth. So no public interest here, just personal vendeta.
That said, it is a mystery where the man got this 'selfless' drive to speak out and he should have known the resistance he would come up against in his quest. He made his bed now he has to lay in it.
Should Mutula go as some are wont to suggest? What of the case of attempt at blackmail to shut him up?
As a public we should get our priorities right and not fail to see the bigger picture. The man must pay his dues. If it is true the did not declare his earnings, grave as it is, it pales to potential of having an international crime suspect for a leader --unconstitutionally to boot!
Keep on Mutula--- if you still got the will .........
Because in this case the message is far greater than the messenger.

Inside elder Kenyatta's kitchen cabinet was one Mbiyu Koinange the Son of colonial collaborator Snr chief Koinange and the brother of Jomo's third wife.
Any relation with the Koinange of 'the bench'?
If there is and in conjunction with the shareholding of mediamax, that could explain the passion of the one on the bench to drive his guest towards preconceived conclusions.
He could just be handling family business.

Njuguna john,
Your argument is even more rigged (by misplaced loyalty) than any Kenyan poll i have come across.
Something tells me you get some wicked satisfied smile in generating a to and fro by your radical conclusions and stances here and elsewhere in this forum, seeing other correct you when you are in the full knowledge of you ways.
So i hope you see i have discussed you and not your allegation for i see no merit in even explaining why you are wrong. You already know that.
I can bet you are not a bore outside politics.
You seem to have the uncanny ability to get rounds thrown your way at your local watering hole just by your unconventional thinking.
But in Jukwaa you give a welcome contrary opinion and are quickly becoming a favorite punching bag to some.
Now, if only you could stick to facts........Tafathali

So can they can simply continue attending their 'prayer' rallies and let their side kicks rant over the matter on their behalf? .
That to me would make the ruling good in legal theory but not in practice.
However, with the recent happenings in the judiciary that tending away from not just barking but attempting to bite i would desist from the usual kenyan pessimism and give them a deserved benefit of doubt.

And with this rally the charge sheet may have just grown by a few more pages......
It would however be interesting to see if whole communities will willing to be tied to the fate of 2 individuals who as it were are accused of marshaling youth against each others tribe. And that they suggest that in order to escape their predicament the constitution be damned, this is as comical as it is grave.
Obsession with one man and vowels in a name shows the depth of their arguments which has decisively majored on the minor. In these rallies (dubbed prayer meetings, probaly a PR move for ICC 's benefit) they never talk of the land question which has been noted by NEPAD as the trigger of instability and which one of the individuals has been severally mentioned as a prime beneficiary.
Omwenga's article makes a sad reading to lovers of Kenya but is descriptive of what would be expected from a cornered cat. Bashir antics aptly serve as an example.

In every cloud there is a silver lining. In this case the duo are treating Kalonzo with the same contempt he treated tax payers when he went on his doomed 'shuttle diplomacy.'
For a man who professes impeccable morals, his actions or lack thereof in the face of major decisions are legendary. In such instances he inevitably chooses 'Kuregarega' and hopes to finally land on the winning team after the fact.
His motto seems to be never take a resolute stand. Just swing with the winds. Yet even the good book despises look-warm people.
Little wonder the indifference being shown towards him. He is a man on the highway to irrelevance.

@ NjugunaJohn
The alleged video evidence of what transpired at State house should be used in trial not at media releases.
Your rants are water under the bridge. For now the 4 are in focus. If Bensauda ropes in even more suspects at a later stage (A likely scenario) the better for justice.
Your obsession with parties is irrelevant to the fate of the 4.
I deduce from your arguments that you cannot fathom why certain individuals were left out. But you offer no tangible reason for such thinking apart from 'mass action' calls a rather mute point. You are defiling a right enshrined in the constitution which even the IDP's have severally used.
Our own agencies collected the bulk of the evidence against the 4 that they probably thought would be destined to some basement archives, Waki changed all that.
As trial unfolds you will find the witnesses against the 4 are probably their close aides and errand boys.--Kikulacho ki nguoni mwako.
If this is what we got from redacted statements and minimum threshold needed for confirmation then the real shocker is probably yet to come and you will may have to change your mind on the proclaimed innocence of the 4.
So unless you got another plausible argument...... Drive slow.
