The trophy is the star attaraction ahead of the match with the arena slowly filling up. Either Bayern full-back Philipp Lahm or Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will be the lucky one to get their hands on the trophy upon the final whistle. The first real chance falls to former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben (left), who wriggles his way into the box before poking a shot on goal, which goalkeeper Petr Cech manages to save in unorthodox fashion. Didier Drogba is playing as a lone-striker up front for the Blues, and is looking isolated without the support of his team-mates. Mario Gomez, Bayern Munich's top scorer this season with 48 goals in all competitions, has missed opportunities when presented with them. The teams go into the dressing rooms all square at half-time.

The Allianz Arena erupts as the ball breaks to Franck Ribery in the box, who puts it into the back on an empty net, but the joy is short-lived as the players look up to see the assistant referee's flag held up, and the goal is disallowed. Bayern get the breakthrough! Toni Kroos whips in a ball from the left and Thomas Mueller stoops at the far post to plant home a header via the crossbar. Drogba brings down Ribery in the box and the Portuguese referee points to the spot. Penalty! Robben steps up to take the penalty for Bayern... ...but it is saved!! Petr Cech, who kept out Cristiano Ronaldo's spot-kick in the 2008 final shoot-out, guesses correctly and stops Robben's penalty.

Mkuu Titchaz
Pongezi, congratulations to Chelsea for this remarkable achievement.
You will agree with me winning on penalties aint as sweet as winning in regular time and with superior goal difference.
Considering the amount of money the club owner has invested in this club and the scale of talent that has been in and out of Chelsea in recent years, this achievement is coming a few years late.
Reaching at the top has been a long and expensive journey for Chelsea, let now wait and see if they can maintain their form and dominate Europe for the next few years - like Man United have done many time before.

wonder if this serial batterer served his time. last i heard he was treating himself to a $300,000 car as a 'going away to jail' present yes! a pity that he's such a great boxer but not exactly a good role model. Floyd Mayweather's time to head to jail has come, but will any lessons come of it?sports.yahoo.com/news/boxing--floyd-mayweather-is-headed-to-jail.html

Not me ;D, but I want to see how the Chelsea guy Hazard and M'villa play. I am with Germany this time, I havent made up my mind who the dark horses are the Dutch? The Spaniard are tired and folks I think will pack the defense and midfield and just play to annoy them and look for opportunities to score on the break. And Pacquiao goes down toninght!! Down goes Pacquiao, Down goes Pacquiao!! I just dont like the road to Damuscus conversion to rightwingerish pious baloney. I like the Black Brown fusion I see in Bradleys camp. But the money folks wont let Manny loose. He is a cash cow! He wil throw a lot of punches as usual bob and weave, and Tim will pop him hard a couple of times and put his a$$ on the deck. But Manny will win on pts, or the Ref will stop the fight for a head but cut, or somethin'. The end wont be clear cut unless Bradley just beats the crap out of him. Is Bradley built to withstand the sharp jabs from weird angles? Can he counter the speedy footwork? Most importantly, can he hurt Paciquia for a change?

Pacquiao loses WBO title in shock defeat
Judges hand victory to US fighter Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas, with decision derided as "unfathomable" by promoter. Last Modified: 10 Jun 2012 07:51
Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines has lost his WBO welterweight title to US fighter Timothy Bradley after a controversial split decision in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao appeared to have dominated Bradley in Saturday's bout, leading with his probing left hand, then mixing in a series of telling combinations in the third round.
Pacquiao looked stunned at the announcement of the judges decision after the match.
The defeat was Pacquiao's first since he lost to Erik Morales in Las Vegas in March 2005, ending a run of 15 consecutive wins by the Filipino who has won world titles in an unprecedented eight weight divisions.
Fight promoter Bob Arum lambasted the judges afterwards in the post-fight news conference.
"I've never been as ashamed to be associated with the sport of boxing as I am tonight," he said. "This is a fight that respected people scored 11-1, 10-2 to Pacquiao. They said that Bradley was trying hard but that this was a mis-match.
"Desert Storm" Bradley, a 5-1 underdog against Pacquiao, improved his perfect record to 29-0 with 12 knockouts, while Pacquiao slipped to 54-4-2 with 38 knockouts.
Judge Jerry Roth (115-113) awarded the fight to Pacquiao while CJ Ross (115-113) and Duane Ford (115-113) gave it to the Bradley, but the crowd responded with boos after 12 rounds which the Filipino had appeared to dominate.
"I accept what the result is," Pacquiao, 33, said ringside. "I respect the judges, I cannot blame them. It is a part of the game. I give thanks to the Lord. I do my best but my best wasn't good enough."
Asked if he thought he had won the fight, Pacquiao replied: "Absolutely, yes," and the crowd erupted with cheers.
"It was a good, competitive fight," said Bradley. "Every round was pretty close. Pacquiao won some of the early rounds. I controlled the later rounds with my jab. I need to go home and review the tape.
"He is a strong puncher. He rocked me a couple of times in the fight but I held my ground and fought to the end. This is boxing."
The official statistics reflected how much more punishing Pacquiao's blows had been.
He connected with a higher percentage of punches thrown, 253 of 751 to the 159 of 839 for the American, and landed 190 power punches compared to his opponent's 108.
"It is unfathomable," fumed Arum. "These people don't know how to score. The truth is they're too damn old to judge any more. What were they looking at? This was not a close fight. It's not good for the sport of boxing."

TEOFILIO STEVENSON, MULTIPLE OLYMPPIC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP, DIES It is the greatest fight that never took place. That between Mohamed Ali of the USA and Teofilo Stevenson of Cuba. Teofilo died monday 12-june-2012 in Habana Cuba. He was one of the greatest sportsmen ever. But the question always remains if he really meant what he said on refusing to defect to the USA and earning hundreds of millions of $$$ as a heavyweight boxer in the league of Ali. "No amount of money, would replace the emptiness in my heart if I abandon Cuba. When I walk the streets of Havana and the kids take pose and threaten mockingly to knock me out, my heart is happiest. When Cubans call me 'Pirolo' with a genuine look of fondness and admiration, there is this joy in my soul. With money, I will forever question, if it is not my money they want! No, no amout of money can replace the genuine admiration of my people. I have found peace of heart in it. I will never abandon Cuba for money!'People like Don King called him an idiot. Perhaps thinking of the money they could have made out of him, even as they used and dumped him like they did with Mark Tyson and other greats! www.inquisitr.com/253374/teofilo-stevenson-dies-2012-cuban-boxing-legend/

all photos of Locobalo are patented! so I cannot find a 'free'' one to paste. baloterrible super marioPlaying in England at €120,000/week, the colourful Mario Balotelli of Manchester city is great fodder for the press-pack in the home of tabloids. At one moment, after a dazzling goal, he is Super Mario, then after another piece of infamy, he is baloterrible! He is qualified as an instinctive footballer, which is to say, in eurocode, cerebrally on the lower scales. Mongoloid. Among his infamies have been urinating on passersby from a balcony --god's golden shower; aiming darts at the buttocks of juvenile trainees; beating up a MAN-U pupil who had harassed a City fan wearing a baloterible vest; set his house on fire by fireworks inside allegedly because of boredom'; ran his car to shreds with his girlfriend narrowly missing death; entertained himself all night-long with a pentagon of caucasian call-girls, all with different mind-boggling specialities! But when he is minded to score his goals on that other different pitch for which he is paid, then the whole football planet sighs in a collective catharcis. Then there is his parentage, or heritage, which is itself a story. In eastern Europe --Ukraine and Poland- where he has been showing his skills, including a heavenly goal against Ireland, he [and other black players] has been the subject of vile racist taunts in the stadia. Croatia has been fined €80 thousand for the chorus of their fans against Balo. Primordial sounds are made everytime the touch the ball. These are sounds associated with the apes, and as bananas are hurled into the pitch, the message is clear. The UK, and most of nothern western europe, dealt with this kind of thing long ago and it is no longer done. But Eastern Europe and a bit of southern Europe still boasts a retarded culture and dangerously stupid sports adminstrators. But life is complex indeed. Walking around Krakow in the Ukraine, Balotelli has been mobbed by young girls and boys alike. In their innocence, not yet poisoned by the racial bias of their parents, they swarm for his autograph. They know him from television: the way he moves, looks, makes faces, shows a mean streak somehow communicates to them. And the strangeness of the colour of his skin. Curious, they want to touch it! explore and make discoveries. But their parents stand back, aloof and scornful, dissapproving looks on their faces. Yet their other body language is like they too want his 'autograph'. baloterrible super mariowww.zimbio.com/photos/Mario+Balotelli

Warzawa, 29/6/12. 2ND SEMI-FINAL EURO 2012 CHAMPIONSHIPS. Bets had been taken everywhere. What would it be for Mario Balotelli. The genial footballer, or the self-destructing lunatic? And the winner was ..... SUPER MARIO STEALS THE SHOW: Italy 2 Germany 1.It should have been the day of the €uro, because the euro-curia was meeting in Brussels, and white smoke was expected to billow high, announcing the discovery of the magic wand to be waved, to reconvert the PIIGs back to normality, and save the union currency. {The former-banker Italian premier had to diffuse reports that he was going to exile if the magic wand was not found --more about that later in the relevant thread: €urozone deathwatch.} Alas, the front pages even of the broad-sheets, were dominated by one photo, and the back pages too. They were all Mario Balotelli captured in an explosive pose. A roman sculpture dwarfing the best of Michelangelo. A Praxiletes. He had just fired a rocket whose speed broke the record of I think Ronald Koeman, the once dutch ace of Barcelona, thereby sending the men-at-work team of the Germans to a 2-0 deficit. Balotelli, the assassino negra of the squadra azzuri.Contrary to FIFA rules, he removed his shirt. And in one of the most memorable acts of conscious sports exhibitionism, took a dominant cock's pose, Kuku Zabanga, flexing his well-trained muscles and striated torso. Strapped on his bare back were three blue ribbons, now the subject of much speculation in european press as to their meaning. As a yellow card came, with a possible €20,000 fine inclusive -- thousands of Italian companies falling over themselves already to settle it, Super Mario scornfully looked at the referee, and again, just like after his goal against Ireland, it took the tactical intervention of a teammate to stop his middle finger at the referee! Saving him from a red card --which would have meant he misses the final against Spain on Sunday. here is a link with the virile photo of pure machismo. www.goal.com/en/news/2898/euro-2012/2012/06/28/3207185/balotelli-proves-beyond-all-doubt-he-is-world-classOrgasmic! Catharsis! exclaimed the cheeky press! unearthing the subconcious of their scandalous readers to sell more. But it is in the commentary pages of the tabloid press, especially the uncensored internet, where the juice flows: Is that the way they go when they come, I would surely be in the extra heaven after the famous seventh! a lady ventured. If he went that way in me, it would be a trip to stay going, yet another went. The Mannschaft, the greats of Germany, who were actually the favourites, were graceful in defeat. On the other field, we will see how Angela Merkel handles the 'leaky' southerners!

Spain make one change from their triumph over Portugal, replacing Avaro Negredo with Cesc Fabregas, once again reverting to the 4-6-0 formation. Italy start with a familiar line-up; with pirlo and Balotelli certain to be the two men that they turn to for inspiration Spain have reached the final after topping Group C before going on to defeat Laurent Blanc's France and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in the knockout rounds Despite drawing with Spain in their Group C clash, Italy qualified as runners up. Wins over England and Germany booked their place in tonight's final. Spanish fans are hoping to see their side make history by picking up a third successive major trophy, and will be praying that 'tiki-taka' triumphs tonight Euro 2012 mascots Slavek and Slavko pose with the Henry Delauney trophy prior to kick-off. Will it be Casillas or Buffon who lifts the cup after full-time?

The game is underway, and Italy are making it clear very early on that they don't intend to give Spain much time on the ball. Fabregas breaks into the box and picks out Silva who heads past Buffon. 1-0 Spain! A pin point pass from Xavi finds Jordi Alba who beats Buffon one on one and it is 2-0!

With Italy down to ten men and two goals behind Spain begin to take total control. Camped inside the Italian half and in constant posession of the ball. A defence splitting pass finds substitute Fernando Torres clear through on goal. He takes the ball in his stride and slots it home to make it 3-0. The goal makes the Chelsea man the joint top scorer at the tournament, and also equals the record for the largest win at a European Championships final. Torres is involved again as Spain add a fourth. El Nino finds fellow Chelsea man Juan Mata who scores in his first game of the tournament to make it 4-0. Mata's goal sees Spain break the record for the most goals in a European Championships final and puts their win beyond any doubt.

The final whistle goes and Spain remain European Champions and have made history by becoming the only side ever to win three major tournaments in a row. Casillas lifts the Henry Delauney trophy for a second time and fireworks fly at the Olympic Stadium to mark the end of a memorable European Championships. It is contrasting emotions for Italy however, as they will feel hard done to after plyaing most of the second half with ten men
