You can't blame the Miguna, the dude is using his wits to make the bucks...you've got hungry consumers and a willing author at his best! That makes a market!! Rais: I'm with you on this one. In this Country Of Thieves, anyone who uses honest means to make money has to be commended for setting a good example.

So much about justice, so why was the 41 vs 1 left out of the story? It's a free country. Full of clever idiots. @adongo, you would rather believe an openly partisan Oloo and DN but then doubt mrembo? It would be a tragedy if the highest order if we lost you too. phil,Nothing to worry about. If the PEV claim is true then I know Miguna is lying because I talked to him a lot about the PEV situation and one thing Miguna maintained was that ODM had nothing to do with the killings. If Miguna knows anything about PEV he should be questioned by the OTP instead of using that to sell some future book. People lost their lives and if Miguna and Raila were part of the deal then they should be heading to the Hague not trying to sell books and snake oil in Nairobi. I know everybody is trying to make money but there are limits even to marketing a book. But I have reserved my comments until I hear from Oloo.

So who was the chief guest at the book launch, Muite? Who else attended, anyone from the diplomatic corps? I mean who were the notable VIPs present?

Raila not as clean as he claims: Miguna Author Miguna Miguna during the launch of his book titled 'Peeling Back the Mask' at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi on July 14, 2012. Photo/SALATON NJAU A former advisor of Prime Minister Raila Odinga has said the PM should not claim that he is clean while he is surrounded with people who have a tainted past. Mr Miguna Miguna said Dr Mohamed Isahakia and Caroli Omondi have been implicated in a list of scandals with the latest one being the National Housing Corporation. “He surrendered some houses in Woodley Estate to the former KACC (Kenya and Anti-Corruption Commission) boss Patrick Lumumba recently, where on earth does such a thing happen and you are not prosecuted?” he asked. He said ironically, ministers Fred Gumo, Dalmas Otieno, William ole Ntimama and ODM chairman Henry Kosgey were the perpetuators of the single party oppression who are now the PM’s trusted friends. www.nation.co.ke/News/Raila+not+as+clean+as+he+claims+Miguna/-/1056/1453866/-/j9esx8z/-/index.html

So who was the chief guest at the book launch, Muite? Who else attended, anyone from the diplomatic corps? I mean who were the notable VIPs present? Here he is: This is worse than I thought. Miguna and his publisher would have done themselves good to invest in at least a few minutes of PR or marketing 101 unless the objective was to minimize as much as possible intrigues on the book which no one other than the most disappointed can complain. There is a silver lining in everything but this one is gold for Raila, ODM and all Kenyans. I must applaud Miguna for this unusual feat that may in the end provide him a parachute ironic and twisted as that may be.

At 9 pm news the NTV will interview MM so please send your questions in advance.
I too was privileged to be at the launch and even got one copy autographed by MM.
His speech basically attempted to answer 3 question, namely: 1. Why did you decide to write the book 2. What made you release it now, and 3. When you found out others were corrupt why did you not resign? For 1 he gave the examples of the personal Assistant of former aide of past Britain’s prime minister Tony Blair who not only wrote as memoir of his time in office but additionally is releasing diaries. Also Condoleezza Rice the former Secretary of State during the presidency of George W. Bush Jr.
For 2 he asked a rhetorical question. When is it right to release a book? January or December or in between? Before or after elections? Who says so?
For 3 he challenged the media to stop letting down Kenyans by not asking the perceived corrupt individuals to resign. He quoted former anti corruption Czar PLO Lumumba who even after stating the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister had returned houses he acquired illegally in the 80s and 90s and what PLO did was forgive the PS, OPM. He also gave the example of the current crop of leadership say surrounding the PM namely Fred Gumo, Ole Ntimama, Henry Kosgey, Dalmas Otieno and wondered what kind of reformer makes those his/her bosom buddies?
As an old man I was pleasantly elated by the presence of many young people. Was reminded of my university days when a speech would start with ‘Comrades Power’ and the audience would return ‘Power’. It was refreshing to hear a fire brand since the old days of the likes of late Titus Andugosi, Mwandawiro Mghanga, Buke. It was pathetic that the likes of oMwenga who appear to be campaigning for jobs in the current or future government can turn into sycophants yet the times require we be critical of not only those we do not like but more so those close to us. Of more importance is need to focus more on the issues that affect us and our people and for anyone who is resident in Kenya they would be youth unemployment; security; environmental sustainability etc. not what we see the G7 spending all their energies talking about an individual and not what their parties including themselves as G7 leaders will do for Kenyans and the country. That is why what Paul Muite said stuck a raw nerve i.e. let us dwell on what topics the book raises rather than focus on the individual raising them. So what are we doing about impunity peddlers? Those both in government and hoping to form future governments?
Onyango Oloo too did not disappoint either, dwelling at length on the memory by invoking the names of past heroes and reminding us not to allow anyone to draw a line and say that list stops here (say 1963). We still have heroes living among us, we had in the past and we surely will have in future.
Are you ready to be counted?

In making those statements about the PEV, Miguna has now taken a very dangerous path. If he has such information about the OTP, he should talking to the prosecutor at the ICC; making public statements that are likely to inflame public sentiment is extremely unhelpful and ill-advised. One hopes that his friends will talk to him.

www.ntv.co.ke/news2/topheadlines/miguna-formally-launches-book/Canadian balozi mentioned to have attended, Einstein. All this saga is when the Luo say: thuol odonjo e ko! (a snake enters milk-gourd situation) But first this: Refusing by design to surrender evidence to the ICC on some aspects of the PEV hitherto unknown, and which can criminally implicate those uncharged locally or elsewhere, may not be a crime as yet, but when UK's lawyers subpoena him to testify, he will have to go and spill the beans, and his next book will have to be an artistic arrangement of his testimony at the Hague. (The kenyan law on withholding evidence wont bother him I think!) ---------- But it has taken the humiliation of Miguna's complex personality --- sometimes so arrogant as to be theatrically absurd, sometimes childishly indisciplined in recklessness, to publicly point at the nakedness of the Luo emperor, and dare the wrath of his royalist tribesmen. A wrath which will be pathological for sure. The psychological honesty in Miguna is comically brutal, yet chilling for Christians and a nation that loves to preach forgiveness and live by hypocrisy. Yes he is angry. (And rhetorically asks why he shouldn't be!) And wants payback --and again the theatrical why shouldn't he revenge on those who humiliated him. He is normal after all! Vengeance is one of the most powerful drivers of men on earth, and God in high heaven. Miguna shocks us by announcing his thirst like a mad man in the market place of no decorum, because most people would plot theirs in sulking silence, and only grin in satisfaction as they ambush and slowly sink the sword slow-motion through another's heart. But even the seasoned Raila knows about Banana splits that fell biggies, oil-spills that fell trucks, and copper plates on rail-tracks that derail wagons. A small David blinding a big Goliath. and setting him up for the kill. So he must give a public answer as to why his PS and close aide swims in corruption, as he tries to project an image different from Kibaki's thieving mafia court! Denials wont do now. Time for some sacrificial heads to roll and be thrown to the baying back of dogs. But Caroli Omondi has huge 'insurance policy', so he must be handled like a rattlesnake ... tactically persuaded to sacrifice himself for the greater national good! Like in the game of chess, all the other pieces must be ready to die some time to save the King, or all will be lost!

Jakaswanga,I think the naked emperor himself, if he has any credibility left, should just come out and tell Kenyans that he is sorry and retire in peace. I just do not see how a right thinking person can still push for leadership of a country after all that has been exposed of him. I am sure you have listened to Miguna's interview with Jeff on the other thread. The nepotism that this man has introduced in this government has never been seen before. Not even Kenyatta got anywhere close to that. It is sad, my brother, it is sad.

If he has such information about the OTP, he should talking to the prosecutor at the ICC; making public statements that are likely to inflame public sentiment is extremely unhelpful and ill-advised. One hopes that his friends will talk to him. I too am curious. Having been close to some of the key players in 2007/8 I never came across information that suggested the existence of the kind of evidence needed to implicate Raila himself in the commission of of crimes against humanity. Yes, in Raila's immediate environment were people like those listed in the KNCHR report such as Ruto, Kosgey, Bett, Kones etc. If direct evidence against Raila exists I would have thought that Ruto and Kosgey would have spilled the beans during the confirmation of charges hearings or even well before those hearings. They did not. I doubt that they would voluntary have chosen to stay silent had they had any direct evidence against Raila. So it is possible that MM speaks about information that should indeed be shared with the public, but such information does not necessarily lead to suspicion of crimes against humanity. Perhaps it warrants domestic investigations. I would not know. But if domestic investigations into Raila's involvement are undertaken, a lot of folks on the PNU side might worry that they too could be investigated, for example all those who were present at the January 2008 State House meetings were the Naivasha and Nakuru attacks were planned, including politicans, senior civil servants and those from the security forces and NSIS.... They may not be too keen to have Raila investigated because it might boomerang on them. People like Hussein Ali may have been acquitted of charges related to crimes against humanity, but he and others may have committed domestic crimes for which they still have to pay. I imagine they would rather leave sleeping dogs alone. On the other hand it is also possible that MM has already shared this information with OTP! Who knows!?

If he has information "that can send all these leaders to Hague", ---he clearly believes he has stuff that goes beyond any "local-investigation" level---why has he been sitting on it when the issue has caused so much turmoil in the country? Is he admitting to having been part of a system that protects heavy-duty criminals? Where is the quest for justice, especially for those who most deserve it---the victims of one of the worst episodes in the history of our country. Or is "justice" limited to revenge for Miguna? You really believe Mr. Motor-Mouth would not tell us about that? In any case, he implied that he's got the information and is just sitting on it. I repeat: We all understand that Miguna has to sell his current and future books. But the PEV is far too serious an issue to used as fodder for a marketing machine. I urge Miguna's friends to advice him to retract such wild allegations or to substantiate them before the appropriate authorities. The last thing the country needs is to have him starting new fires as we head into elections.

The last thing the country needs is to have him starting new fires as we head into elections. Otishotish, I agree. I was not suggesting that giving hints at a press conference is the right way to share sensitive and potentially explosive information with the public..... And I agree that PEV is too serious an issue to deal with in the manner it was done today. Please do not read into my postings what is not there.... My key point was that Miguna cannot be the only person in the know about potential evidence to implicate Raila in crimes against humanity. Both Ruto and Kosgey were part of the inner circle in the run up to the elections and during PEV. The OTP wanted to indict them and, in Ruto's case, succeeded. Why did Ruto and Kosgey not provide such critical information about Raila if that indeed existed? Surely they were not prepared to be the fall-guys for Raila? But they never got beyond generalisations such as Raila's political responsibility. I am not saying that Raila is as innocent as a child. I do not know what he did, who he directed or whether he really was unaware of crimes that were being planned, as in the case of 41 against 1. I am just saying that it strikes me as odd that those who went to The Hague were unable to table information to convince the PTC that they were foot soldiers in a much larger scheme. And I would welcome information to the contrary. Let those in the know speak out, including Miguna.

After watching the youtube, seeing MM venting insolently in such a function in which he needed to charm, I'm convinced God saved Kenya by denying Raila the presidency. If such swollen egos were glorified in the PM's office what would it be like were this oozing from statehouse? Such arrogance, such bigotry, such pride. How many friends does he have?

Being so busy I haven’t had much time to follow Miguna’s antics in detail. However, of what I have seen and read, here are a few observations: 1. Thank you Jaber and Omwenga for your perspectives and contributions. Three quarters of what I have read that is mistakenly described by the ‘Daily Nation’ as ‘serial’ could be summarized in the following paragraph: I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. I am a fool blah blah. But this is enough to earn Miguna the last installment check from the shadowy paymasters who correctly identified an out-of-control ego, an emotional wreck and deployed it to attack Raila Odinga. Sometimes I wonder why we waste time on the barking dog instead of following its leash to its new owner. 2. We can dismiss Oloo’s ‘review’. He, as I articulated earlier, works for Miguna. It is a half-baked review. It reeks of the embarrassing sycophancy that we have seen here over weeks and months. Nothing objective about it. Adongo says Oloo was a book reviewer for some ‘diasporic’ magazine . But I see no evidence that he learnt much. For instance, the book was written hurriedly, no sense of reflection required of such assignments is evident, scant additional research or interviews and loads of inaccuracies, rumors, innuendo and even simple spelling errors (some of which we corrected here!). The prose is similar to what we saw on the pages of the Star newspaper– suitable for quick propaganda but not for serious introspection worthy of being called ‘political memoirs’. Miguna flatters himself by comparing his sleazy propaganda to the works of Condoleeza Rice or Alastair Campbell. You do not expect a lapdog to see any of this, do you? Of interest, is that, whereas Oloo writes with some regularity, the DN hardly finds his material worthy of her newsprints, that is, until now. Make what you will of that. On a related subject: Some will recall the choice epithets that Oloo leveled against myself and others in a thread that he subsequently decided to block… and then unblock to only to add an inconsequential and clearly private communication from the CJ. I have no problem with that; I recognize the constant transfiguration of the pugilist into referee, and vice versa as part of the bargain here. 3. It is clear that the Miguna is now running scared. Miguna has no idea what all the people he disparages in his book will do. Nobody really knows. That is the reason for the stupid interview on Nation TV. ‘If they sue me I will take them to the Hague’ bullshit. Miguna – hear this: Raila Odinga is the least of your worries. This is 2012; we fought for freedom while you were in Canada handling refugee matters. That is why you can talk all the takataka you want. Of course some of your rubbish may end up in court. But this is not 1987 when Moi would have fried your balls for dinner. I think what annoys Miguna most is that Raila Odinga will not respond to him. The best part of the whole charade is when Miguna says ‘they should kneel, lick and pray at my feet’… who says that? which sane person talks like that? this is symptomatic of a deep psychological problem. A maniacal emotional imbalance that can only be treated at Frank Njenga’s clinic. I say best part because it helped viewers to suddenly realize that they were dealing with serious mental issues. It was an aha! moment that suddenly explained everything. Linda Ogutu, the interviewer called it ‘obsession’. I have no idea what Frank Njenga will call it. 4. There is of course a subtext – as there usually is. Two advisors, both lawyers jostling for power and position in Raila’s court. One is outplayed, outthought, outmaneuvered and outwitted. One is a loud, arrogant, embarrassing and reckless. The other is silent, efficient, and powerful. I agree with Job about the base emotions that motivate people like Miguna. He was in fierce competition with Karoli and he lost. 5. Raila Odinga will win the next elections. Ever since Miguna left, the Odinga campaign has seemed better organized and more deliberate about its actions. There seems to be a coherent strategy unfolding. The DN has milked all it can in its attack on Raila. In days, the 24 hours news cycle will focus on the next controversy and Kenyans will move on. We will say more...

And below is the list of possible attendees that MM promised us on the book launch with CJ as the chief guest. My response to that list is also included so you can take stock of the success or flop of a day that was billed to be MM's: Another message from Miguna:
Everybody is invited:
Even Kibaki, Raila, Kalonzo, Uhuru, Ruto, Tuju, Kenneth, Karua, Kiyiapi, most foreign ambassadors Kenya and so on.
Some of these guests have confirmed attendance already.
We should all welcome the new dispensation that not only entrenches EVERONE's right to think, beieve in and associate with whomsoever he or she likes; but to have the freddom to express their opninions without censorship pursuant to the law and the Constitution.
Ideas and thoughts never rot!
Like Luis Moreno-Ocampo often says:
" I am loving it!"
Cheers,
Miguna Miguna
PS:
Miguna will be live on K24, Sunday July 1, 2012 at 9PM. MM,
Please we are not children! There is no way you can invite the two principals and expect them to attend when the CJ is the Chief Guest. There is something called protocol in government even if they were to attend in their capacities as private citizens.
So what you are telling us won't cut. I bet you my mother's only goat, to borrow from Adongo, that the majority of those you have mentioned above are not attending your book launch.
Try another one please!
www.jukwaa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=7046&page=4

And now from someone who has actually read the book Note what he says about the probable lasting impact of the book. I have not yet read it myself so I will refrain from commenting. Saturday, July 14, 2012 The political impact of Miguna Miguna’s book on Raila “Eeeeh...eehhhh..eiiii...Please save me from Kibaki! Eeeeeh..eiiiii...Please don’t let me go back to that man...I don’t want to go back to Kibaki! Eeeeh...eiii...Please save me from Kibaki!” Raila broke down and cried, torrents of tears flowing freely down his cheeks. He was shaking uncontrollably. It was about 3:30pm on April 6, 2008. Everyone in the room was stunned. They had never seen Raila cry before. Former close aide to PM Raila Odinga the always controversial Miguna Miguna launched his explosive book this morning as the many enemies of Raila circled their prey anticipating the kill. The truth is that they are in for a big disappointment because in my view the book in fact boosts Raila’s image rather than doing any real damage to the man who many believe won the 2007 presidential polls. While it is true that there are a lot of negative things said about the ODM presidential candidate in the book, the bottom line is that as a political weapon to discredit the man and paint him as a corrupt politician this narration attempts to take off but before gaining any height crashes and burns. What does the reader feel after reading the last sentence and putting the book down? Most will feel that it was a good read and I dare add that what will poignantly remain on their minds will NOT be Raila’s corrupt ways but instead the kind of man one Mwai Kibaki really is. Many will not help but empathize with Raila because after having his sweet victory stolen away from him, Kibaki went on to rub salt on the sore wounds of the Langata legislator by making it a nightmare for Raila to operate in a government where he was in fact supposed to be an equal partner. Indeed to the credit of Raila he must have a really big heart to have gone through what he has suffered ever since he had the presidency stolen from his in broad daylight in early 2008. Our brothers from the Luo community are reputed to be very petty and more concerned about prestige and their personal image and yet reading through the book it is the member for Othaya and the PNU side that come across as being petty going for the bigger and better rooms, using seating arrangements to put Raila down at every opportunity etc. The excerpt at the top of this post speaks volumes and is probably one of the most unforgettable passages from Miguna’s book. A real shock when we were all sure it would be the inside details about Raila Odinga’s corrupt ways. Interestingly the PM’s wife Ida Odinga does not fare so well. A single incident in the book where she ordered a ferry that was already half way to it’s destination back and then proceeded to eject several cars (including that of a cabinet minister) from it so that her entire entourage would be accommodated makes for some very interesting reading and paints the joint first lady in very poor light. Indeed she makes Lucy Kibaki look like some meek nun in a seminary. P.S. Politicians boycotted the Miguna book launch today with only new Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan showing up. What message does that send forth? In my view the political class do not like exposes one bit and are very nervously observing this development. kumekucha.blogspot.mx/

Ugandan Government denies Raila, Museveni oil dealThe government has denied allegations that President Museveni and some powerful individuals around him negotiated secret oil deals with Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga over costruction of an oil refinery.
The claim that Mr Museveni could have discussed the possibility of building the refinery in Kenya rather than Uganda in his meeting with Mr Odinga is contained in a new book, ‘Peeling Back the Mask’ by Mr Miguna Miguna, a former aide to the Kenyan prime minister.
Mr Miguna Miguna claims that instead of building a refinery in Hoima, the two principals agreed that Uganda would instead transport its crude oil to Mombasa for refining and export. But Ms Irene Muloni, Uganda’s Minister for Energy, told Daily Monitor that Mr Miguna Miguna probably does not wish Uganda well.
“President Museveni is at the forefront of building a refinery in Uganda. Already, land has been secured to build the refinery, which will help Uganda add value to its oil, and, thus, earn us good income from value-added oil,” said Ms Muloni yesterday.
She said the President is fully aware there would be extra benefits such as the establishment of petrochemical industries, which would offer even more Ugandans jobs.
Mr Odinga made a sudden trip to Uganda and met Mr Museveni at State House Entebbe, around mid-2009. During the visit, Mr Odinga and President Museveni purportedly agreed to work together in order to process and sell the oil currently being produced from Lake Albert in Uganda through Kenya.
Mr Miguna Miguna in his new book says: “Now obviously many people would say that Raila was only doing this for the economic good of Kenya. That’s possible. Why, for example, was the Ministry of Energy not involved in the discussions?”
Relations The two officials have a history of uneasy personal relations which have warmed in recent times. Since the meeting in question, Kenya has discovered oil, raising the question of whether Uganda would go ahead with its own refinery or work with Kenya to expand the old refinery at Mombasa.
Energy ministry permanent secretary Fredrick Kabagambe-Kaliisa recently told MPs that Uganda would go ahead with the refinery project regardless of what happens in Kenya’s oil sector. Officials from State House were not available for comment by press time yesterday. Mr Museveni is in the UK for the conference on family planning.
Mr Miguna’s claims could not be independently verified. The official severed ties with Odinga under acrimonious circumstances but it is not clear what his motivations for writing are.
Mr Miguna also claims that Mr Caroli Omondi, Mr Odinga’s Private Secretary, worked with either Mr Sam Kutesa or Eriya Kategeya, who have family and historical ties respectively with President Museveni, to fix the appointment with the President.
However, Mr Sam Kutesa denied the allegations, saying: “That is absolute nonsense. I have never linked the two. I think the two know each other enough. And even if I had done so, I see no problem as long as Kenya invested in Uganda’s refinery.”

And now from someone who has actually read the book Note what he says about the probable lasting impact of the book. I have not yet read it myself so I will refrain from commenting. Saturday, July 14, 2012 The political impact of Miguna Miguna’s book on Raila ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ While it is true that there are a lot of negative things said about the ODM presidential candidate in the book, the bottom line is that as a political weapon to discredit the man and paint him as a corrupt politician this narration attempts to take off but before gaining any height crashes and burns......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... kumekucha.blogspot.mx/ For me, the book is not so much about the character of Raila Odinga rather it is about that of Miguna Miguna as a human being hopefully with all his mental faculties still intact. I sincerely hope I'm wrong about this, but I am not looking forward to the day when other people will come asking "Where were you when your brother was going a stray? Why didn't you help him in his hour of need?"That is the moment I dread most. I have been with Miguna Miguna online for quite sometime now since I joined Jukwaa and in that period I was Miguna Miguna's staunch supporter!!! Now, that thought/feeling really makes me sick!! I really hope I'm wrong about this thought/feeling.
