Meanwhile, "back at the ranch", Raila continues with the madman who took off with my clothes parable (which we were told by unreliable sources was not a reference to Miguna) while Ruto & Duale call Agwambo out...

Nobody has to call Miguna a mad man! most Kenyans can see his behavior and come to their own conclusions! ;D maybe he need to go cool of his feet at the ICC while presenting the crucial information he is withholding.. I bet his bosses will soon be escorting him to central province for a "HERO" WELCOME.. ;D ;D

Meanwhile Miguna is already in Nyeri, he's received a very "warm" welcome... Here he is on top of a pick-up with security detail in-tow... to keep off any thugs like those who stole his cap in Mombasa.

Chaotic scenes in Mombasa as the mob goes for Miguna. Note the character with a catapult at full stretch at 1:10 inside the hotel a few feet away from Miguna. If Raila & ODM do not condemn the violence there is bound to be some blow back even if it's the karmic kind. Miguna should suspend the book tour for a while: We may have to bite the bullet, dear fellow citizens. Freedom is not a child's play.(1) It has to be fought for and defended, in some other countries by bloody means. To have a look at intolerance vs freedom of expression, I went to watch a documentary after somebody on Jukwaa mentioned Salman Rushdie (2) and his adventures with European Muslims, after the fatwa following the publication of the Satanic Verses. This documentary was about Aryaan Hirsi Ali, a former German-Dutch politician now working for a right-wing think-tank in Washington DC. Jamhuri can claim her, this Aryaan, because though born in Somalia, she went to school in Kenya, and only fled after her relatives here saw her more as a commodity, better sold off for wifely duties in adolescent, than be sent to further school. In Europe she received the shock of her life when the only thing they were interested in, was whether she understood she would have to repay the study-loan, quick and with interest. What she further did with her life was her own business. So as they say here, she doctorated, --graduate is not a currency term in Germany because even primary schools have graduations. (Hirsi Ali may have doctorated in Belgium or Holland). Inspired, and thinking of the fates of all those poor Muslim girls in Kenya and beyond, she became a leading feminist critic of the 'backwardness of Islam'. She soon radicalized into an unbeliever, and the death threats started to roll in. Forcing police protection. There are reels of cine where Muslim demonstrators bay for her blood outside debating theaters, where she is a guest peddling her book, debating audiences, autographing. Many institutes found it important to host the debates with her ---and as Muslims howled outside like wolves in mating season, Huntington's the clash of civilisations loomed big. The minister of police condescends with impunity: in this country we have always appreciated the cerebral. Peoples thinking can be wrong, but we never put them to death for it. Never be violent against them. We sit back, think out why they are wrong, engage them in debate, and correct the wrong thinking. Our fellow citizens loyal to a particular religion, definitely are not shaped in this mode. They remain a 1000 years behind, and looking at their countries, who wants to stand up and argue me wrong! And with that, the full powers of state protection were bestowed upon Hirsi Ali. (the religion-based Christian parties had their bones to pick with Hirsi Ali, but they did not do it in the Islamic fashion. They staged debates called feminism and religion, and invited Ali to battle). Looking at the comments of Kenyans on Miguna and his insults, I can not help but smile at their uncanny resemblance to the ones hurled at Hirsi Ali by the Islamic constituency where she came from, when missiles were thrown at her at a debate function. --- she was a provocateur! a blaspheming b!itch! sexually frigid, mentally rot, etc etc(3). When her collaborator in a film critical of Islam was slaughtered by a radical Muslim, the Imams smiled: he asked for it, did he not? Allah's sworded hand is long. But the rest of the civilised world stood aghast at the animal level of those people. THE CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS, again. Miguna is forcing us into an internal clash of civilisations. Are we to tolerate party affiliated goons violently harassing, to intimidate into silence, a disgruntled element promoting a book, even if we think the activist is peddling lies, insults, innuendo and the rest of the juices that keep our tongues busy wagging in delight? Or do we stand up and say: we wanted freedom of expression! take that! debate the lies in peace, demonstrate in peace, take the insults to court, but do not attack physically to show disagreement. We moved on as a country.Miguna brings this debate so sharply into focus by his controversial and theatrical public performances, that fellows just have to pesa positione(4). Decide their stand in their hearts.
1. It was Fanon who said ‘the struggle for liberation includes both the mind and the muscles; thus, he insisted that, a ‘desire for revenge’ cannot ‘nurture a war of liberation’. If MM is driven by revenge it behoves the goons owner/hire-firm to know it does not work 'an eye for an eye' style. Teacher outlined the relations which exist between oppressor and oppressed. For example: "Any situation in which 'RAO' objectively exploits 'MM' or hinders his or her pursuit of self affirmation as a responsible person is one of oppression". And also: "One of the basic elements of the relationship between oppressor and oppressed is prescription. Every prescription represents the imposition of one individual's choice upon another, transforming the consciousness of the person prescribed into one that conforms with the prescriber's consciousness." Freedom, like child birth, if done traditionally, is a painful process. 2. Midnight's Children, Rushdie book before Satanic Versus was and remains my favourite. The Ground Beneath Her Feet which came after SV is a title reserved for those I find love hitting one below the belt. 3. If one reads The Second Sex it opens ones eye on use of such put downs. 4. Agree we need to find our level. If we start with taking each other through mud no problem as where there is mud a river must be somewhere nearby. We will wash ourselves and like elephants leave the ticks in the water and come out clean. So let the mudslinging continue if we must descend to that base level.

Mr. Miguna Miguna’s Tribulations:
Press Release
Nairobi, 27 August 2012
For avoidance of doubt, we wish to communicate to members of the public generally as follows, regarding Mr. Miguna Miguna and his self-inflicted tribulations, as he allegedly tries to popularize his book in different parts of the country.
1. Mr. Miguna is the man who has recently published unfriendly propaganda against the Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The propaganda is packaged in the guise of a book that claims to seek to make Kenya a just society. This package is however nothing but a bundle of offensive and defamatory invective against the Prime Minister. Mr. Miguna has himself stated publicly that the objective of this polemic is to derail the Hon. Prime Minister’s Presidential campaign.
2. We want to state categorically that the PM’s supporters have been strongly advised, via public communication from the ODM Secretariat, to respect Mr. Miguna’s rights and freedom, even if he abuses that freedom to defame the Prime Minister.
3. The Prime Minister occupies very key public office. He recognizes that citizens are entitled to genuinely interrogate his performance. But he also recognizes that there are those who will abuse freedom of expression to insult him and to hurt his good character. Such is the price of freedom and high office.
4. The Prime Minister does not have to answer to everyone who makes wild claims against him. If he were to do this, he would spend all his active time answering back to wild claims, for there is no shortage of this from his detractors. That is why he has kept off the Miguna allegations.
5. In the event that anyone considers that there is substance in the wild allegations against the PM, there exist lawful and decent avenues of seeking redress, in public interest. However, since there is no substance, nobody is exploring use of such avenues. The PM and this Secretariat have therefore been content to allow Mr. Miguna to enjoy his freedom of expression, unfettered. We trust that genuine supporters of the PM and ODM have heeded this advice and are keeping away from Miguna and his frolics.
6. There have been pleas from strange quarters on “the need for the PM to speak out” against the apparent harassment that Mr. Miguna is coming up against out there. Mr. Miguna, his sponsors and those who seem to be harassing him are playing to a choreographed and orchestrated script. As has been stated by the ODM Secretariat, this is a sinister, offensive and lowly ploy. It is a wicked stratagem that seeks to depict the Prime Minister as someone who does not respect other people’s rights and freedoms. It is clear that it is sponsors of this ploy who are shouting loudest about this matter. It is well within their capacity to end the orchestrated “harassment” against their man.

B.O. MulukaFor the Raila Odinga for President Secretariat I don't believe any of that. The Prime Minister has been responding to miguna via others as well as telling us stories about mad men. That's not ignoring miguna as others have pointed out time and time again.

I warn you no eavesdropping on my thread via NSIS!! R911, we may not agree on a lot of things but the moderator, Kathure, crossed the line yesterday. We can only hope she's learned her lesson. After all, those of us who choose to do have the right to use a handle & to reveal/conceal our gender, n'est pas? However, like another Jukwaa moderator who decided to publicly partially commit cyber-suicide yesterday, Kathure, in my view, is frustrated by betrayals from people she thought she knew whether on this board or up to the PM himself. It's not everyday you learn that what you believed in was a well packaged PR gimmick. Cut her some slack. At least the scales have been peeled from her eyes. Hoping you will open yours soon ;D B6K no big deal, Jukwaa for everyone gives us anonymity, my Gender & where I reside I chose not to publicize, these are some of the privileges Jukwaa Blog gives to its members.. I will leave it at that..my eyes are always open hence my Reporter911 handle ;D ;D hey we don't have to agree on everything, but we remain respectful to each other even when the Kitchen is hot.. that is the way it should be..
