agwambo's handlers ought to be extremely circumspect on this and even the proposed robocalls. besides preaching to the converted, there is the danger of a backlash from the tech savvy hackers taking advantage of this to send offensive emails.\ the presidential secretariat should consider demographics not mentioning gender and overarching electoral issues in their messaging. i still insist that agwambo would have to revamp the secretariat and places emphasis on the messaging and the open sourcing. the link below of the america's ruling party's think tank, is just but many of the online platforms with issues based agenda that we could consider borrowing one or two from. www.thedemocraticstrategist.org/

I think Raila is doing the right thing. I get similar Emails from Obama everyday. See below the one I got on Friday. From: Barack Obama [info@barackobama.com] To: XXXXXX Subject: This is in your hands, XXXXXX Sent: Fri 10/5/2012 10:23 PM XXXXXX -- There have been many times in my life when I've been counted out -- told that I couldn't do it, told not to speak out for what I believe in, told to not even run in the first place. I've only gotten this far because I've had people like you with me every step of the way. Right now the other side is trying to obliterate the hard work we've put in on the ground in this campaign by flooding the airwaves with factually inaccurate, negative attack ads. If they win, they're going to dismantle everything we've accomplished together over the past three and a half years, and turn back the clock to the same failed policies that got us into this mess in the first place. We cannot let that happen. There are only 32 days left in this campaign. If you're planning to take the next step, now is the time. Please donate $5 or more today: donate.barackobama.com/Stand-With-MeThanks. It means a lot to know you've got my back. Barack Contributions or gifts to Obama for America are not tax deductible This email was sent to: XXXXXX. If that is not your preferred email address, you can update your information here. Sadly, the current thread title gives away your condescending attitude particularly if taken in the context of your numerous Miguna promotional threads. I would like to request and kindly know what your personal views are on the contents of this email "blitzkrieg". On my part, I am aware that this is a solicited email. Only those that registered their names and email addresses with the secretariat are receiving this email. I receive the same kind of emails from other political parties and will certainly register on SDP's mailing list when they wake up from their moribund hoja alliance slumber. For now, I suggest we let those who can discuss the content do so rather than try to attempt to throw suggestions that are neither here nor there at Jukwaa.

One I received from Clinton on behalf of Obama: Bwana Fifty, I hope you'll pay attention, because this is important. We're facing a big FEC fundraising deadline -- after this, there's only one more before Election Day. Here's why that matters: Your donation will go further now than it will next week. That's because it will immediately be put to use -- if your $5 (for example) goes toward hiring an organizer in Akron, Ohio, she'll have more time to do her job and reach more voters. And that's how elections are won. I hope you'll donate $5 or more before the September fundraising deadline: donate.barackobama.com/Deadline-SeptemberThanks for everything you do. Bill Clinton P.S. -- If you donate $5 or whatever you can today, you and a guest will be automatically entered to fly out to meet President Obama and me on the campaign trail.

Raila is so late in this considering that Peter Kenneth has sent such emails for the lt 4 months.
The only problem is that since it is unsolicited mail and is derived from getting people's email addresses, the tendency for many is to just delete the mails or redirect them to their junk folder.
The difference between the Peter Kenneth weekly emails and this one sent to Oloo is that Raila is repeating things he promised when he run for the first time as president and which anyone knows is a lie. Peter on the other hand is a lot more current affairs taking the situation today and telling us how he would deal with it......a lot more refreshing than the promises made by Raila.

You misunderstand my concerns, and as I could have predicted, the usual suspects have already invaded this thread and as you can see none of them is discussing the content of the email which you chose to make public. As you have previously taken your time and effort to write analysis on topical issues (eg. Miguna's book), I would have wanted to read your analytic views on the contents of that email. I do not think I am asking for too much.

Please try something else.

Please try something else. Am talking about 2012! Am I still lying now? Whether 2007 or 2012, with the phenomenal growth of social media, mass emailing is definitely an antiquated mode of political campaign. Most voters previously available on free online email addresses immediately abandon those addresses after opening Facebook and Twitter accounts. FB Inbox and Twitter Direct mail appears to have killed conventional emailing especially among young people. Even those creating interactive websites now must have an auto switch mobile platform. Times have changed gathee.Raila has several accounts and lobby groups on both platforms which are followed and liked by a lot more people than those following Peter Kenneth. And yes, kamalet, those like Oloo who receive these emails voluntarily registered at Raila's website and thus by accepting to be on the mailing list, that is solicitation and nothing else. There is an option for unsubscribing if one so wishes.

One thing that was conspicously missing in Raila's email: the word 'corruption'! I wonder why. It certainly cannot be that it is the least important issue but on the contrary. It cannot be that Raila has spoken about corruption so many times that now it is longer important to repeat the same. It cannot be that the word is so insignificant that it had to escape his mind when writting such important committments.
I wish someone can explain the reason/s for such a critical omission to me.

And yes I am aware that one does need to register in some instances. That was not my point! All I said was that Raila would be coming in late on the form of messaging as we already have been getting similar mailings from PK. The second criticism (and Abdulmote does capture part of the problem) is that the mail is impersonal, makes promises without offering solutions. Yes it's it is brilliant that Raila wants to address the economic woes of this country....but how does he intend to do it? Tells us Raila and let us debate you on this! Please sound like one interested in ruling us and not like some activist!

I'm sure Oloo will be able to post all mentioned above.. for a fair more informed debate to take place here on Jukwaa? ama.. otherwise all presidential candidates & MP's should continue campaigning after they stop PAY DAY "SALARIES BONUSES" STOLEN FROM THE GOVERNMENT COFFERS.. WHICH KENYAN CITIZENS WILL BE FORCED TO PAY THROUGH TAX HIKES.. BURE KABISA!!

My vision for Kenya Inbox x Raila Odinga raila@railamail.com 11:13 AM (8 hours ago) to me Dear Onyango Oloo, I dream of a peaceful nation, A land whose citizens live in harmony in a free, fair and just environment. I dream of a land of plenty and equity, where justice is a cherished shield and defender. I dream of a land where labour is respected and dignified; A hard working nation whose labour fills every heart with thanksgiving. I have always believed in freedom with responsibility, co-existence of thoughts and ideas. I have cherished multi-party democracy and political tolerance. I treasure diversity, social justice and good governance. These beliefs form the foundation and central pillar of my personal dream for the Kenyan nation. It is a dream I aspire to live for and possibly achieve in my lifetime and one for which I have in the past paid heavily. For this dream is at variance with self-focused dreams that others in authority have nurtured in the past. Consequently, I have paid for this dream by being locked up in solitary confinement; I have been detained without trial and ultimately forced into exile. However, my dream for Kenya is unrelenting. The strength, resilience and spirit of the poor and disadvantaged in our country has emboldened me in my pursuit of this dream. The people of Kenya have been served a raw deal since independence. They deserve a caring and accountable leadership. They deserve leadership that is driven with a strong sense of purpose and integrity. A leadership that seeks to serve rather than to be served. I am weary of the failure of old policies and tired men. Kenya is once again at a crossroads. A new society is struggling to be born. It needs agents of change to make it happen. We must not be afraid of making tough decisions and difficult choices that will drive Kenya forward. To become a modern, democratic and developed nation, we must place Country and Service above self. It has been done elsewhere. It can be done here. We cannot wait for someone else to do it for us. We are the ones who will do it. I offer myself to lead on this mission. Kenya under my stewardship will offer transformational, fair and responsible governance. Nobody will be oppressed, regardless of rank, gender, age, race, tribe, religion, disability, or any other defining factor. If you elect me to be your President, I will ask you to hold me to account on the following promises. I will work ceaselessly to cement the unity of our nation, treat every part of our great country fairly, without any kind of favoritism or discrimination whatsoever. I will be a listening President; I listen to the voices of our people and make them active participants in our Agenda, a People’s Agenda. I will spearhead the process of genuine nation-building and fundamental transformation of our society. I will foster national unity through fairness of service delivery that will eliminate ethnic fears, anxieties and suspicions. I will make Kenya one nation that is proud of its ethnic diversity by making Kenyan communities trust each other. I will make Kenya a secure place to live and work in and lead the Kenyan people to conquer famine and hunger. I will take affirmative action to ensure that Constitutional gender thresholds are realized. I will inspire young people and give them the confidence to challenge what is wrong and unjust. I will create an environment that encourages our youth to dream of great things, and empower them to pursue their dreams. In sum, I will strive to make Kenya a place where all individuals and communities can feel at home, with security in the present and hope for the future. THIS IS KENYA'S MOMENT. Thank you. Yours Sincerely Raila Amolo Odinga www.raila-odinga.com | Talk2Raila | Facebook | Twitter

Perhaps a comparison on what Peter Kenneth mails out every week:
Hi XXXXXX, Thank you for allowing me to share my ideas on the future of Kenya with you over the last few months. In Gatanga, we have consistently been rated number one in the management of CDF funds. I am convinced that if we are to create job opportunities for our youth and attain complete food security for our people, we must replicate and amplify the same quality of care and accountability of the people's trust and shillings at the national level. That's why I decided to run for the Presidency with great humility obligated by my experience in development and love for Kenya.
Together, we will be able to grow Kenya and leave it better for our children. Together, we will transform a small movement of friends to a national campaign that will deliver victory for us all. Together, we will make the necessary changes that will make Kenya blossom into a just nation in which we can create real opportunities and unlock Kenya's potential.
In the coming weeks, I will officially start my campaign. I am aware that I will not be able to change the course of history alone; I will not be able to lead our nation towards a developmental agenda alone.
Together, with the thousands of other Kenyans who have made a commitment to an issue-oriented politics, I need your support.
Let's change Kenya together! Please sign up as volunteer by sending an email to volunteer@peterkenneth.com
Regards, Peter Kenneth

Kamalet It does not matter how many times you bring in PK in this thread but the fact remains that he is a punda in this race ,he can barely garner 1% in opinion polls and you want us to waste time discussing him .The face book and twitter candidates are just that then there are real candidates in the name of RAO n UK aka farasi ,just look at the turnout from twitter demo against MP's sendoff package ,compare that to when Tinga calls for a rally in the heart of nairobi ,most of the idlers in face book and twitter are in the diaspora and they dont have any influence in Kenyan politics.
