As a CORD supporter, this has been an excruciating and painful 'dreams into nightmares' day. Gloating rights erased.
Not all hope is lost I hope.

Lincoln, do you really want to go down that "cooking" (figures?) lane? It seems to me after taking a wee nap is that the trend we saw emerging from the first 10% of counted votes has marginally held at the 20% mark. Other than RAO finally crossing the 40% mark & UK sliding 3 points or so, it looks like CORD still has a lot to do to catch up. What's still disturbing is the high number of rejected votes. It is edging toward 6% of the vote so far. What on earth were people doing at the voting booths?

On the rejected votes, my understanding is that the difference between a rejected vote and a spoiled vote is that the former is valid but deposited in the wrong box/container and the spoiled vote is mis-marked, or improperly marked i.e the voters intention is unclear. Would appreciate any insights, clarifications.

Apart from the trend & gap which has remained consistent, 70% overall voter turnout may still provide some surprises depending on who got the voters out at a higher rate....

Sister Malkia,There is no difference between a spoilt and rejected vote! NONE counts!! I know neither counts. However, the legal distinction is extremely important. Most immediately, do either rejected or spoiled votes count in the calculation of the 50% + 1, also in the event of recounts the standard for spoiled votes is clear intention of the voter (think Florida 2000). It may help if I clarified that at this juncture I am more interested in the legalities and not the political ramifications, if any, of the distinction.

I was advising that you get the champagne chilled so that later you may enjoy it at the right temperature if things stay the way they have been since last night. With the 4,000,000 votes counted mark now past, UK still maintains a convincing (NB not unasailable lead) at 54.63% to Raila's 40.87%. Back to monitoring the tally....

Early days...early days B6k! I would be happier if the young man had 56% to ensure that it is all clear and clean to avoid any disputes. Kamale, Podp got it but you are jumping the gun. The drinking is still hours away. Back to monitoring the tally.... now-a-days with deep freezer one does not need to chill any wine for above 30 minutes, otherwise the bottle breaks. so you just tell us when to start ululating and voila we shall put the bottles in the deep freeze count 5 ngemis and by the time all of them are over (30 minutes) we can start the party. initially it will be in house before cascading to the streets. and everything will be peaceful knowing that WM's judges are working 24/7 so no need to bring mbriiiichaa
