hehehehehehehe phil,I knew you were going to be gloating about this. Man, chelsea sucks when it comes to big time games. Mercifully I didn't get to see the match, because I was in Niagra Falls where the boys under 14 team was in a two day tournament where they lost the final on a penalty shoutout. They were devastated. They have won the same presitigious tournament twice and won in Montreal too on penalties so they got back their medicine. But I was sneaking in to see what was up. Then I saw it was 2-0 Man U and gave up. I don't know how Chelsea got the one goal. But I told you the gunners are the next big deal. They will take back the team to the Thiery Henry days, only better. So celebrate when you still can. How about them Barca! Aha. That soon. And the damn game has to be played in Wembley. That is not fair to Barca. But you know what they can do. That will be the match of the century. Any bets? Cheers my friend.

I dont begrudge your team Man U. Like AO when I saw it was 2-0 I gave up, and went and did chores or whatever it is I was doing at that time. I respect their record.
I just dont like them, and dont be fooled, they too have a billionaire owner. If there is a UK team I like its Arsenal.
But I hope Barcelona runs rings around them come May 28.

Ancelotti, the Chealsea coach makes an outrageous statement. He claims he would pick and sign the cromagnon faced man with equally boorish behavior Rooney, over the mercurial Messi. Read his absurd and fatuous reasons HERE No wonder Chelsea is a pale shadow of its former self with this man at the helm.

folks it was total domination! Very beautiful soccer = total body control, passing and possession football at its best. Barca rose to the challenge and completely blasted Man U out of the water 3-1.
I have rarely seen a team this good. Around the 63rd min, on the right side flank, Barca stringed a total of 11 str8 passes, in a very small tight corner!

Hope Solo I have been watching women's world cup, in Ugerumani and this lady goalie is a marvel to watch. Athletic, well built, muscular, ..... no wonder Brazilian men are reportedly going gaga over her.
Marta the Brazilian wizard was a marvel.
So kesho ni USA Vs Japan to determine who the champs will be. I have no dog in the fight and will be fine with whomever wins, although many around me for obvious reasons are rooting for the US.
I prefer the more artistic Japanese to the athletic Americans. The Japanese play a more controlled possession based attacking style, Vs the long ball helter skelter bahati na sibu American way. But please dont get too over excited about the 'Barcelona' Comparisons.
Also who has been watching Copa America?

Day one of the IAAF Athletics Championships in Deugu have been absolutely fantastic for Kenya, and regardless of whatever Kamale says about ODM or RAO, I will ignore it because sitting at this sports bar in Addis Ababa no less, I must confess I am extremely proud of what the Kenyan ladies have accomplished in Marathon & 10k metres....!!! Clean sweep of Marathon is historic and for those who understand athletics, participation and actually finishing a full marathon is one of the most toughest endurance tests on the human body. Winning gold, silver and bronze is unprecedented my fellow Kenyans. The late Samuel Wanjiru (RIP) must be turning in his grave.... Congrats to the 10k metres team too. Hongera.....Titchaz weka picha.

Here's the story...simply amazing. mobi.supersport.com/athletics/international/news/110827/Kenya_sweep_medals_on_opening_dayKenya sweep medals on opening day 27 Aug 2011 15:22:54 Kenya's women distance runners dominated the opening day of the world championships on Saturday, remarkably snapping up all six medals on offer in the 10 000m and marathon. But there was heartbreak for household names Steve Hooker and Christine Ohuruogu in South Korea. Reigning world and Olympic pole vault champion Hooker failed to register a single vault while Ohuruogu, the Olympic champion, was disqualified from the women's 400m after a dreadful false start. Jamaican sprint superstar Usain Bolt safely negotiated his 100m heat, however, as did American Allyson Felix in the 400m, moving a step closer to her goal of an elusive 200-400m double. But the day belonged to Kenya, the east African country putting archrivals Ethiopia firmly in their place in the battle for distance supremacy. First up was Edna Kiplagat, who claimed marathon gold in 2hr 28min 43sec as she led Priscah Jeptoo and Sharon Cherop across the line on the streets of Daegu. The evening session saw a superb lesson in superior team tactics pay off when the four Kenyans in the race worked together effectively and saw Vivian Cheruiyot claim gold in the 10 000m in 30min 48.98sec. Fellow countrywomen Sally Kipyego and 2009 champion Linet Masai completed the podium to round off an incredible opening day's medal haul for Kenya. "It's absolutely fantastic," beamed Cheruiyot. "It's a wonderful day for Kenyans and for the entire country. "We wanted to run together and it was the plan to run together and we ran perfectly, helping each other." For the injury-wracked Hooker, his morning outing was nothing less than a catastrophe but the Australian was left with "no complaints". The 29-year-old passed at 5.20 and 5.35 but failed to even muster a vault on each of his three efforts at 5.50, 10cm shorter than his modest best this season, running through the mats each time. "I don't have any complaints," said Hooker. "I felt fine physically but I felt kind of lost on the runway." Ohuruogu, who had been desperately struggling to refind the form that saw her win gold in Beijing in 2008 with an eye on the 2012 Olympics which will be held in her native east end of London, was left devastated. "People false start all the time. It's sad. I've worked really hard so I just feel wasted," she said. [embed:video:id=100791] There were no surprises in round one of the men's 100m, defending world and Olympic champion Bolt cruising home in his heat in 10.10sec. "I feel great. I did well. People are going to say what they want but I'll focus on what I want. Nobody has broken my world record," said Bolt, who set the world record of 9.58sec at the Berlin worlds in 2009. "I've worked during the season. I've worked it out so that's why it looked so easy – focus and exercise. I was really happy because I worked hard all season. I finally got it right." Fellow Jamaicans Nesta Carter, Michael Frater and Yohan Blake all also went through, as did the US trio of Justin Gatlin, Walter Dix and Trell Kimmons, European champion Christophe Lemaitre of France and St Kitts and Nevis veteran Kim Collins. After the first day of decathlon action, American duo Ashton Eaton and Trey Hardee are firmly in control. World leader Eaton leads on 4 441 points, 48 ahead of defending world champion Hardee. The decathletes will tackle the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and the 1 500m on Sunday. FINALS RESULTS WOMEN 10 000m 1. Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot (KEN) 30min 48.98sec 2. phil I would love to see those videos. Ethopians are very crafty in their running, always running jsut half a step behind you forcing the Kenyans to think about a possible tripping incident from behind while also strategizing about the race.
A neighbor had the tapes and I watched in amazement. The Kenyan ladies were full of grace, lithe fast and very adorable.
The mens 10,000 was a classic! What happened to Kenyan men in the 10,000M?

Sports is the best tonic from a toxic political atmosphere. Its the salve against mafiya wa mt kenya shenanigans that can drive you crazy. In Daegu Kenya did very well both the Ladys and Men. Its difficult to pin point one and say 'that one did the best'. So that leaves me with the best celebrations dance and who can top the dance by Kemboi? See pic HERE This Wed, Its Barca and AC - I cant wait. Then on Sato, its Floyd Vs the upcoming V Ortiz. I think Ortiz has a weak chin and look for Floyd to knock him out!!

For soccer fans out there today is a day of reckoning for Chelsea with Beyern Liverkusen in the UEFA group stage. But the game to watch and I can't is Arsenal and Borrusia Dortmund. Many people probably don't know him yet, but Mario Gotze(sp) of Dortmund is the real deal.
Some people believe he may very well be better than Messi in a few years, which is near impossible but the kid is that good. He is 19 years old and just helped Dortmund lift the cup in 2010/11. he joined the club at age 17.
Dortmund has the youngest players in all of soccer at their level. There is another Japanese dude there who is smoking. Mario has been injured lately but if he plays he is worth his weight in gold.
And by the way Arsenal offered S 40 million to Dortmund for mario Gotze and they said thanks but no thanks. Dortmund plays some real beautiful soccer. Of course I am still a fan of Arsenal and my beloved Chelsea but I am above all else a soocer fan and a student of the game. I look at every aspect of it and I really love that kid Mario Gotze.

The UEFA CUP matches are terrific, I watched the Barca - AC Milan game and was in awe of the Barca tika-taka possession game (they had the ball for 70% of the time) despite the 2-2 draw. I also like AO look forward to watching the rest of the matches.
The loud talking macho man Floyd comes to town against Ortiz this sato. Floyd kicked out his own dad amid a torrent of verbal salvos - calling his dad muthafkr etc. It was embarrassingly sad. He should however beat the glass chined Oritz.
I havent watched rugby for a long time and when I watched Tonga Vs NZ All Blacks I had to try and recall the game rules!!

I knew Ortiz would not survive, he has a glass chin.
ManU is so much better, faster, and play with such a youthful dynamism they are unbeatable in the UK. They will loose a match or two, mark my words, but it will happen when least expected. They are the clear EPL faves.
Stay tuned!
Did Arsenali loose?

They didnt just loose, they lost scoring own goals!

Boxing ex-world champion Joe Frazier dies 08 November 11 08:24 GMT Former world heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier has died after a brief battle with liver cancer, his family said. Frazier - also known as Smokin' Joe - had been receiving hospice care in Philadelphia after being diagnosed with cancer several weeks ago. The 67-year-old was the first man to beat Muhammad Ali in 1971, but lost his next two bouts with Ali. He held the world title between 1970 and 1973. Frazier won an Olympic gold medal in 1964 after going to the Games as a replacement for Buster Mathis, who had beaten him in the trials but could not attend the Games due to an injury. He won the heavyweight title in 1970, after Ali had been stripped of the championship in 1967 for refusing to fight in the Vietnam War, by defeating Jimmy Ellis in New York. Three years later he lost his crown to George Foreman. But the boxer is perhaps most widely-known for three great fights with Ali, including the epic "Thrilla in Manila" in 1975. The pair had a fraught relationship dating back to taunts Ali directed at his rival in the build-up to their famous bouts. But in recent years, they were reported to be on better terms. "The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration," said Ali, 69. "My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones." Frazier retired in 1976 after again being beaten by Foreman. He then made an unsuccessful comeback in 1981, fighting only once before ending his career for good. "Goodnight Joe Frazier. I love you dear friend," said Foreman on Twitter. British former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis told BBC Radio 5 live: "Without him, other boxing heroes wouldn't be great because they tested their talent against him. "He definitely was legendary and he made a great contribution to boxing. "I'm so sad for his family. Nobody likes to hear about great heroes passing on. It's a very sad day for boxing."

THE THRILLER IN MANILLA is still ranked by many commentators as the ultimate boxing match. The two men. Ali and Frazer, took each other to trials no two sportsmen had ever taken the other. And for long Heavyweight Boxing was the number one sport in the world.
One can these days look at a feminine Tiger Woods, or a sissified Roger Federer --global icons, still one will have the feeling that if a man like Fraser were to emerge.., then there would be no contest of who the sportsman is! Those who have not watched the thriller, find it and watch it. It is above the rumble in the jungle.

Smoking Joe was something else. After the Thrilla in Manila duel Ali said it was the closest to death he had ever been. But for all the inside the ring earth shakers they had they had even a bigger fight outside and Ali was ruthless with Joe. He called him a gorilla. He said he was too ugly to wear a Heavy Weight of the World ring. Ali called Joe an uncle Tom because of Joe's attitude towards Ali's refusal to go to Vietnam when Ali declared No Vietnamese ever called him ni.gger.
Joe hated Ali with a passion. When Ali lit the olympic torch in Atlanta Joe wondered why a sick man shaking all over was lighting the Olympic torch when strong men like him could do it. He suggested those helping Ali light the torch should have thrown him in the inferno itself. I am sure those were hurtful words to Ali. But the cruel hand of death has taken Joe first. May he rest in peace. Of course he will rest in peace, there is no fighting going on in there, is there?

May Smoking Joe rest in peace... he did have that 'peek-a-boo' style that the likes of Tyson have adopted. Let’s not forget that left hook that floored one too many...
I take it that the boxing fans watched Marquez Vs Pac part 3. Definitely controversial results. Most boxing purists know that 'styles make fights', in this case Marques had developed the style to give the Pac Man too many issues i.e. counter punches, fast jabs, good footwork, good head movement and does not get sucked into the swarming style that Pac seems to favour. If Marquez got into a brawl, he would have probably been knocked out due to the power from Pac, but that was not the case, we all saw how frustrated Pac Man was... Does this expose Pac? Time may tell, that said, Pac’s minders now know what styles will frustrate him and will definitely not let him fight a smart counterpuncher. But again all boxers also have that one bogey man e.g Tyson had Buster Douglas, Lennox Lewis had Hassim etc Marquez is Pac’s Bogeyman. Don’t get me wrong Pac is a good fighter and I am only interested in the technical aspects, the next question everyone is asking is ‘when are they going to get to Mayweather’, again focusing on purely the technical aspects Pac may have a long night ahead due to the technical and defensive superiority of Mayweather…. Good examples of defensive fighters are Jack Johnson, Willie Pep, Parnell Whitaker, my all time favourite James ‘Light’s Out’ etc at the end of the day it’s all about the money (Mayweather Vs Bob Arum)
One the home front we have (ex Olympian) Kariz Kariuki having a go at “Pantera” Edison Miranda in December, KARIZ, this won’t be easy outing but all the best of luck.
