From my Twitter Account:Capital FM Kenya @capitalfm_kenya ODM now cancels eagerly awaited press conference that was to announce the fate of Oburu Odinga and Jakoyo Midiwo. James Smart @jamessmat ODM has agreed on #Siayagovernors row- decision to be announced in a presser We want to avoid being part of social media propaganda. It was formally announced earlier today that the Chairman of the ODM National Elections Appeals Board, Hon. Joseph Kiangoi will today address a press conference on the Board’s report following various appeals that were presented to them. As far as we know, that announcement has not been formally withdrawn. TNA promised a press conference on Friday last week at 6pm at SilverSprings hotel wherein they were to embark on a process of hourly releases of TNA nominees. The promises was postponed to Saturday then Sunday, and up to Monday no one really knows who the TNA nominees are. Those releases have not happened and I dont see anyone asking any questions or giving persistent tweets on this pending matter especially on Nairobi County in which Jimnah Mbaru has formally submitted a strong appeal for Clifford Waititu to be disqualified. In electoral reporting, each side deserves equal and fair coverage. Phil have you noticed most of them have no interest on promoting their own presidential candidates or parties on here but are concentrating on attacks towards Raila, ODM and then Cord, very synchronized I should add here on Jukwaa and in the news media...it is hilarious.. the beauty of the Internet and blogging is anyone is able to debunk all the propaganda right away and that leaves most people struggling to catch up with current happenings with straight facts not propaganda and innuendo's even master Miguna fight against Raila/ODM was defeated ;D ;D let 'em keep trying... "CORD" Tsunami waves are unstoppable.. ivyu tu

But as they say, mene mene pekel pharsin. As you can see, two are already down if Phil's story is to be believed, two more to go. After that, the rest of the country will do the rest come March 4th.

Jakaswanga, I agree on Serena but disagree on your presidential pick. Martha comes with the 2007 baggage which she has yet to fully dislodge. In any case she was the stumbling block, the hardliner during the Serena negotiations. This is a woman who was ready to see Kenya down the abyss for her own selfish ends. If she had been appointed DPM she would have been OK with it and given the Kenyan people the middle finger.Worst of all- she has not come out to explain to the Kenyan people why she is now the f-Savior. So yea, Serena's sweaty back looks more appealing than this Martha's you know what. I am leaning more towards Kiyiapi than the hatuwesmake duo. Senti 5 Patriot, I have to admit this is always the sticking bone I ran into when I walk hand in hand with Apondi! b6k once said, the image of her, eyes bulging like a witch defending Kibaki while Kenya burned, requires several years to erase from national consciousness. ---Got a glib pen when he means, that b6k wretch! So I fully appreciate your point. But I once made a list of all the pros and cons of all these candidates, and analysed for a calculated, responsible risk, and I came up with Martha. It is a tough sell I know. But aint she still a pretty young thing!? On the serene one? what else can one add to her sweaty backs? if not a lyrical guitar-lick?

1. ODM appointed appeal boards comprised of 5 individual 3. were given instructions to listen to all Saiya complains from individual aspirants and supporters They come to the conclusion to Nullify the Saiya results and disqualified both ODuol and Oburu. National council gives them a right to appoint by direct nomination another aspirant with they did.. Heavens forbid! So this panel, if report be correct, arrogates itself the power of the people? chooses and imposes upon them a governor? the fella deriving his/her legitimacy from a party panel? the same party that organised the fiasco! in a country radicalised hot for fair universal suffrage, ie public popular ballot? radicalised after the last 2007 rigging, which was fought to a stalemate with much blood? That hand-picking paints a picture of a KANU-style PC, a colonial governor or administrator, who needs a state of emergency to rule. For his power issue-th not from the people. I suggest an enlargement of police forces in those areas whose governors will be 'colonially' appointed thus. That is how you run the politics of occupation --where the locals have no say in their rulers! I hope that Siaya disease is not exported overseas to Homabay and Migori-Kuria! Thwarting the popular will is always bad politics. Even by a god.

Thwarting the popular will is always bad politics. Even by a god. Reform and deomcracy. Coming soon to a voting station near you. Or it could be the new-and-improved rigging. Still, even the 2007 rigging was done with a bit more "delicacy" and "style". No assaults, burning of property, or other assorted mayhem. On another thread, I wrote this: Read more: jukwaa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=7729&page=4#ixzz2IexXg8A0So ... looking at our national primaries, I ask myself this: Did these have to be held at the last minute of the last day? Could they have been held on Monday or even Wednesday? What's more, I seem to recall the IEBC warning parties to do these things well in advance of the deadline. In any case, the parties have long been aware of these deadline. Is planning really that impossible in Our Great Country?
I too am holding holding back on my scorecard. But so far, I have two theories: (a) utter incompetence that would not be corrected by "leniency" on the part of the IEBC; or (b) clever mischief---those rigged out can simply be told that the "law doesn't allow us to change anything at this stage; so, sorry, just swallow it". And, as corollary to (b): the final decisions being made in the traditional style. Nice warm-up for the main elections.

Who Is Okanja, AND Why HIM?For someone who hardly campaigned at all, is virtually unknown to the Siaya County electorate oustide his West Asembo Ward in Rarieda Constituency and is alleged to have received a total of 200 votes in the just concluded primaries, lady luck must surely love this guy!!! Question is, WHY HIM?The powers that be are counting on the usual wave - robotic voting to carry him through. BUT will the Siaya electorate kowtow and rubbber stamp the selection after being blatantly shown that their vote does not matter to "the real Owners of ODM and Siaya County"?

Just who is this Okanja?
www.standardmedia.co.ke/?articleID=2000075594&story_title=Kenya-Just-who-is-this-Okanja?
By Lawrence Aluru
Kisumu, Kenya: The much awaited verdict for Siaya county gubernatorial seat has been relayed out and the two fierce contestants for the seat have been left out.
For Otieno Okanja, it is joy and partying for being handed the certificate to run for the seat on a silver platter after the two Oburu Oginga and William Oduol could not agree.
He will now come face to face with Felix Okach who is vying for the same seat on a National Agenda Party ticket.
The much awaited verdict has sparked confusion among supporters of the two while it was a miracle for the newly nominated aspirant.
He said that he had lost words to express his joy about the result from the elections board when contacted by the Standard at 9.35pm.
The little known Otieno will be a blow to those who thought it will be business as usual in the seat that is up for grabs on March 4.
Siaya County nominations for the gubernatorial seat has sparked controversy among many in the constituency but with the verdict, residents can now begin to find more of Otieno.
Work experience
Many are surprised with the outcome from the elections board for they had not known Otieno for long just as the two who had traversed and dominated the county.
A former banker, Okanja brings into the race vast economic and investment experience gained while he worked with Kenya Commercial Bank.
Born in 1950 in West Asembo, Okanja went to Nyagoko Primary school after which he joined Sawagongo High school before joining Alliance High school for his A’ levels.
He joined KCB as a management trainee in 1978 and later on retired from the same bank as an executive director.
Okanja has a Bachelor of Art degree in Economics and Sociology and a Masters in banking and finance from Finafrica College (Milan University).
Okanja has authored a book titled "Kenya at Forty five- Economic performance, problems and prospects".
He says that he will erase the past and direct the future by implementing five key strategies which are agriculture, education, business, health, water and sanitation and sports, talents development and culture.
Okanja says he will promote sports and culture as this was the base in which people will live in harmony.
He is not far from others that say education will be key during their tenure as a governor as this was what will bring development.
He had said that will stick with ODM even if he losses in the party primaries.

Oburu Odinga and Ruth Odinga step down
Addressing the media last night as he stepped out from the Siaya governor’s race, Dr. Oburu Oginga recounted last night how he had won his Bondo Parliamentary seat four times in a row. Seated next to ODM National Election Board chairman Franklin Bett, he said “none of those times was I related to a powerful government figure, nor was there any violence in those elections. Now all these accusations are flying around that Raila the Prime Minister rigged me in, and I used violence. Raila’s opponents within government organised the disruption and violence to undermine his standing, and mine. It seems it was a crime to be born Raila’s older brother now.” He was not challenging the ODM decision.
A few earlier, his sister Ruth Adhiambo Odinga had spoken to the media in a very moving statement, delivered in the most heart-felt and simple way, with tears brimming in her eyes. She said she had received no help whatsoever from her brother Raila in the campaign, and was stepping down from the Kisumu Governor’s race for the sake of peace in the country and Kisumu.
Yesterday the Odinga family was once again once showing how willing it is to keep the country’s interests centre-stage in their political struggle for change, a trait that dates to Jaramogi’s campaign to put Jomo Kenyatta first. A big chunk of the credit for Oburu’s and Ruth’s decisions of course goes to Raila, for whom this was an intensely personal and familial challenge. It’s not for the first time he’s made or influenced decisions like this.
In 2002 with Kibaki Tosha, Raila unified the country against dictatorship and energized the democratic movement’s first sweep to power after 40 years of struggle. He similarly unified Kenyans in 2005 (the first constitutional referendum), in 2008 by giving up his claim to the Presidency and accepted the junior role in the Coalition, and then of course in 2010, as the true author of our new constitution.
Such sacrifice and attributes – including the capacity to balance personal ambition and national interest - are the stuff of which great leaders are made.

Amen!! and let those hired aspirants and thugs look for other victims.. wameKwisha..Wapi ODOUL? why is he silent now??? bure Kabisa.. they tried but they were defeated by those who love the country dearly.. Raila this Raila that.. wacha tu "CORD" Tsunami will clean all those are throwing logs and daggers in its path.. nobody should get away with hiring thugs to harm citizens of saiya then turn round and blame it on Raila & his family.. Haven't we all seen these same tactic's before? mmm!! Watashindwa !
