Nereah,
here is a view of this fella Scott Walker as written by a Milwaukee journalist and relayed to national papers in the wider USA. {Quote} During his eight-year tenure in Milwaukee County, Walker never raised property taxes. He cut the county workforce by 20 percent, improved its bond rating and gave back hundreds of thousands of dollars of his own salary as part of the effort to trim spending. But he also saw his relations with local unions deteriorate.
Union leaders say Walker never negotiated in good faith and had a singular solution to every budget problem: cut. Under his watch, the county privatized public jobs, laid off workers and placed others on furlough. [...] Walker argued that collective bargaining was the biggest hurdle to balancing the budget and that unions had little incentive to give ground because they almost always prevailed in arbitration. He said that the cuts he proposed were intended to prevent layoffs and accused union leaders of being uninterested in compromise.{Quote} ================= This is the kind of guy we would call a Thatcharite around here. Tackling Unions by law and selling off any public thing he can. But from some comments I saw, the democrats also seem to have misread the man. That is, even some democrat voters like the man --not his party-- because he goes for what he wants and makes no bones about it: what you see is what you get. At the same time the GOP sent so much cash his way, that whispers go Walker could be in the picture for bigger things nationally. A talent. They will now portray his victory as one against Obama and the DP in total. You know Bill Clinton was up there campaigning. Surrogating the cowardly Obama they say already, and getting his butt kicked!
And the turn out! above 65%. That is a sign something is on. But some tea pary areas returned in excess of 70%!
Wisdom is always: by a lower turn out, Democrats loose; just like in the UK, by a lower turn out, Labour looses. It is the progressives who normally abstain! Obama is warned.

some section of the media seems excited that romney has accomplished a feat that no republican has done in recent memory.
having raised more cash than obama for the month in question is indicative of the battle ahead.
barracking obama entails not just outspending him but raising more cash and grassroot organisational ability not mentioning stage and state craft. for romney, the going is getting better with favourable mention by rightwing jewish media and lobby not mentioning bibi who he has some personal friendship and past career engagement with. did i mention that romney is faboulously rich and the rich like donald trump with grudge over the healthcare reform by obama are going all out for super pacs.
but wait untill obama rolls up his sleeves.

Obama's Kill list: power and moral corruption.Even in antiquity, scholar philosophers burnt the proverbial midnight oil growing grey hairs on this issue. The prerogative of power and the imperial ruler to 'Let there be death, and there is death'. And damned be the rest! As the new faith of Christianity invades deeper Egypt and replaces (by fire brimstone and sword) the existent Pharaonic religions, this argument flared up so harshly it split the Christians. A group of early Christian fanatics, fired on by their impatient pious monks who absolved them of the crime in advance, while a political settlement was still being haggled over, set fire to the last resisting temples (of the Amun Rahs and Anubis Isis-s) in the Nile islands. These arsons, apart from consuming tonnes of scripts on papyrus comparable [in modern terms] to the congress library in Washington, burnt to death countless monks and nuns of the old religion. And the hieroglyphics, once the language of the gods, became a dead language. These mass murders in the name of God, a good cause if any, would set a precedent, since when later Islam came calling, it set fire to the Christian holies in turn. So to date, Christianity is just some minority sect called coptic in Egypt. And still persecuted I think. It is difficult to recall Egypt was once a wholly Christian country. [And maybe when it was a wholly Christian country, it was difficult to recall she was once a wholly Amun-Rah country!)The wing of Christianity which thought they should not arrogate themselves the power to kill with such impunity, was largely silenced. When Christianity would later emerge as the state religion of the Roman empire, it would be spread by reli-knights in full battle gear. The word at the tip of the sword.Livia, [one of ] the wife of Great Augustus, also known as Octavianus, was the master of the discrete Kill-List. The hypocritical rituals of current lords of the state-kill would be strange to her: murder is an instrument of effective state policy, she thought. And in imperial politics, the politics of Rome, murder is like a handshake in daily life! what the Roman army did abroad, the Roman state did at home, albeit secretly. Enemies of the state do abound everywhere, after all. Philosophers like the O bama reputed favourite Aquinas could then grow premature grey thinking about the morality of state murder, but the clarity of Livia's mind reigned supreme, and Augustus served a very long term --until Livia thought he was no longer useful to Rome of course, and eliminated him by poison! (this is the bad press. There is good press too!) First forward 2 thousand+ years later. The New York times reports about Obama's penchant for personally picking the men, terrorists, to die by drones in far away dominions like Pakistan and Jemen! www.nytimes.com/2012/05/29/world/obamas-leadership-in-war-on-al-qaeda.html?pagewanted=all [OBAMA'S SECRET KILL LIST PROB] That is, the law professor who, describing Bush jnr.'s antics (wanted dead .. or alive at Guantanamo) as less than American, once talked of the moral revival he would lead, is himself prosecutor, juror and executioner! In a country which boasts moral monopolies, and the greatest separation of powers, the news that every tuesday morning without fail, presumably after kissing off his own kids to school, the law professor peers at his kill list and unites these powers, has become an occasion for introspection, starting with the liberal left. And the rights of the innocent who happen to be around the target and become collateral damage? Ah, god's work no hard hearts may be. THE LIBERAL LEFT. latitude.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/07/after-libi-killing-us-drone-policy-lands-obama-more-criticism/This is the high-minded constituency which, though decades late, eventually succeeded in in forcing Robert MacNamara, the bomber of Vietnam, to send his highly-priced great brain to the purgatory. www.nytimes.com/2009/07/07/us/07mcnamara.html?pagewanted=allAlso, a story is told of the great communicator, Ronald Reagan, who instinctively understood the American people, but would mostly be dozing off during presidential briefings (very lengthy affairs) or drawing diagrams of possible cake-shapes Nancy would surprise him with come tea time! (beautifully shaped cakes, that is why he married her by this account!). When one day some American soldiers were blown up in a German discotheque, and the security advisers went on and on about possible perpetrators, Ronald cut it all with one quip: 'The american people are not amused. They want some a.s.s kicked. Find some a.s.s and have it kicked in public. Or I will kick yours!' And he looked at Admiral John Pointdexter (the guy later to honourable fall on his sword on the Iran-Contra Affair together with Col. Orly North). Pointdexter immediately drew the head of the CIA apart and asked for guaranteed guilty suspects. 'There is Gadaffi the mad Arab dog; he is always a ready asz asking for a kicking. If you want asz now, you got him.' 'You heard the president. And he speaks for the american people! He wants Gadaffi' s but-hole kicked! NOW!' Pointdexter barked. And so within double time the chain of command had reached a NAto bases in England and Italy, and Gadaffi's adopted daughter died in the firestorm of elite F-series jet bombers. And the American people cheered what a great president they had. It was called Operation El Dorado Canyon. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_El_Dorado_CanyonGeorge Schultz, one of Reagan's secretaries of state and the guy who scouted young Condoleezza Rice out of Stanford, when asked after he retired, looked away and just said: Pointdexter was a man with an extraordinary ability to understand the office of the president of the united states. Few men will ever match him!Indeed. A great nuclear engineer, stories are told how he would have the solution in a minute for the president, then go off to wait for the lawyers to come to the same conclusion after one week. And never a shade of arrogance. (As the lawyers still argued, he would wander off to the kitchen to talk to Nancy about the shapes of the cake for the day's tea! Many later Hollywood movies tackling the White House, or series on the presidency in crisis, are indeed based on the humorous complexities of Pointdexter's character. An goldmine). Obama has his own Pointdexter of sorts, and here he is being referred to in this article, and in many others from the left, as the priest! Also priest of death --a pun on some priests employed by maffia capos to first bless the souls of those they have contracted to hit. Thus with a legal priest at his side to soothe his nerves, the president of the USA can dispatch death to every corner of the World at will. A modern God. His will is the Law. Old Livia of Rome would sneer at the need for weak-legged hypocrisy. But then, Machiavelli's insights were not yet crystalized in her time! COLLATERAL DAMAGE Collateral damage like all those bystander kids? [ see footnote] Ach, as Thutmose III said on the order to destroy Megiddo: You come from a blood that has wronged great Egypt. You were born outside the law of civilisation. Born dead. But I have not heard Obama offer a thoughtful word on the children as collateral damage in Pakistan. 'We do not do body counts over there.' is what an official has ventured. I like the humour of the Indians of the subcontinent. A puppet comedian was asking Manmohansing when India will wake up and start drone-killing her many terrorists hiding for instance in Kashmir. 'Now that we are a great power, where are out drone-hits!' The fake Manmohansing tiredly replied: The terrorists are not our greatest threat. That is the Indian people itself. We politicians are so corrupt we know you hate us more than we hate terrorists! That is why we are keeping Indians ignorant, uninformed. We can't kill off the whole population with drones!!' And the sikh president started to cry inconsolably! Maybe Obama's real kill list should just be the whole populations that breed the terrorists. The born-deads. Like the Iranians perhaps ... with their slowly riping atomic arsenal! Draining the pond it is called. FOOTNOTE: Those who grew up in old Nyanza will remember the days of mass rumours which would blanket the countrysides in self-imposed curfews. Rumours about 'kachinjachinja', the evil people who sucked the blood of children and turned them into zombies, then sold them to Tanzanian waganga who would used them as slaves etc. Now the pakis stare fearfully unto the sky, looking for a lurking 'kachinjachinja '! a UFO, but... Well, in the remote provinces of Afghanistan and Pakistan where Obama indulges his kill-thirst with drones, the local culture has incorporated these sudden explosions that rob them of their kids. 'Obama' is the name of the new kind of death that does not just take away the lives of children, but mangles and decimates their bodies too. Imagine 300 years from now, a Pashtun linguist lecturing his Pashtun students on the etymology of the word 'obamadeath' in their language! This is a messange from other Jaluos to the Pashtun linguist yet to come! Not all Jaluos thought he was doing it for them! those drone hits!

its interesting how someone can totally twist issues so that they fit within their context. (mwalimumkuu are you listening ;D ) == An interview with George Obama, who lives in a hut in Kenya "like something out of 'Slumdog Millionaire'" is featured in the upcoming movie "2016: Obama's America." Barack Obama’s half-brother, George Obama, is about to make his film debut, and in a feature-length documentary that is critical of the president, no less == www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/barack-obama-brother-anti-documentary-george-obama-346807

So what pressures forced Obama (??) to reveal his choice of 'ahanda', or inner-wear as they are called?
It is the story of politicians being cagey with important information, and opening wide the door for trivialities. Why can't Mitt Romney reveal all his tax details? at once? Or his birth certificate .. at once? or when he resigned or not from Bane capital? Or whether as a mormon he will be performing 'mormonic rituals' in the oval office if elected?
Obama too may be pro-choice or not, pro gay marriage or not, pro gay servicemen in submarines or not, pro gun limitations or not!
So a group of students decided to come up with easy questions, as a comedy show. Questions the candidates can answer without worry. 1. Can Mitt Romney say unequivocally what his name/s is/are? (hesitation and laughter: birth certificates tend to have long official names!)
And you, you are Mr. Hussein, right? (Obama looks a bit uncomfortable! hesitates)
Are you males? --last time you checked? You mind if I prove it now, for the american people??
This kind of thing has become an internet rage under young voters, such that the spin doctors can no longer ignore it. Some of the questions quite nasty as more and more variants are entered by creative spoilers. So better volunteer bits and manage the direction!
And so the white house has confirmed what pants the president wears, and David Beckham, has happily cashed in on the publicity, sending him a 'truck-load!'
Now Mitt! (who is currently bogged down as to whether he bought followers to boost his twitter ratings!

The subtext is the same one that McCain and Pailin were appealing to. America is white and we've got to get "our" country back. The democrats should have an easy time dealing with that neo-con. Only problem will be the debate between him and Biden. I don't know what's up with Biden and talking, he's always tripping on his own words.

Kathure-K, I did not dare mention it, but now you have pulled the cat out of the bag. Still, I will go about it in around and about way! When it comes to electioneering, I love the USA. For one reason. When analysis has been done, there is a group of fellows whose hobby is [econometrics] mathematics as applied to voters. These hobbyists then try to mathematically make sense of a strategic decision. Giving it more wings, or deflating it. (If I remember correctly, econometrics is the math that measures such things as the probability that Mr. Y, of income Yi, and several other variables Yq, Yx and Yz {family size, age, sex, etc], will buy margarine M1 instead of his usual M2, by a price reduction of P1, given specific conditions of temperature and pressure, and certain musics playing at the supermarket on a certain day. Not forgetting the 'type' of attendant --hot or cold or ?). You may laugh at this kind of math, but if you are in the West, your local supermarket pays heavily for this kind of math. And they use it to do 'product positioning' during those days of SALE SALE or DISCOUNTS! Or changing over to import cheaper Chinese makes. But we are a political blog, so lets forget consumer behavior and do 'voters' and their whims. That means Mitt Romney.Let us first talk about Marco Rubio, the junior senator from the important swing state Florida, he of Latino extraction, which is an increasingly prominent electoral factor in national elections. He is a tough-campaigner, smart and hawkish, and all those things a good GOP-man should be. For a long time he was tipped as the running mate of Mitt Romney, and it was something of a surprise to some, that he lost to Wisconsin representative Paul Ryan. (That massacre at a Sikh temple last week was at Ryan's home turf) So what goes? Why Ryan over Rubio [after Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota went trailing]?? (Several coy reasons are advanced, including he is as risky as Sarah Palin) but of interest to me, is the one considered by mathematical pundits as the real reason: Romney has better chances of defeating Obama, if he does a Ronald Reagan. That is, if he wins THE WHITE WORKING CLASS VOTE in such overwhelming pattern, that surrendering the ETHNIC (LATINO AND BLACK AND OTHERS) becomes of no consequence. {There was something actually -- racially-- sinister in some Reagan TV ads!} But for Romney now, wooing, swinging and winning the white vote, of a certain undecided if impressionable type, is a better pitch, or a risk worth more taking, than going fishing in ethnic reserves where Obama seems unassailable. And then the mathematics [politimetrics] starts! to back up this claim. The mathematicians do not win always (there is something called common sense too it appears ) ---and in any case the formulas are too complicated for all candidates and most pundits, but occasionally there is a mathematician who can explain the beef in two minutes of TV time, and gets a consultancy job. And this ethnic math, I read between the lines, is what has informed Mitt's choice of Ryan over Rubio. The battleground is on the white votes where Ryan is reckoned a top predator. That is what the math says. That is the realistic numerical option to go for. But the election after this, the Latino % and profile would have moved such that the math will be different. A Ryan-Rubio ticket in the offing? A possible GOP dream ticket post Jakogelo. NB: On the other hand Mitt Romney just returned from his World Tour. Read UK and Israel. And he was big news in Israel because he broke an American taboo. American dignitaries of a certain station traveling abroad, do not criticise {as vile} the foreign policy of a sitting president. Neither do they disparage his domestic policies. An American political notable abroad has one message: POTUS is fine One nation under God. We have our differences, but the USA is paradise. Well, Romney trashed Obama in Israel. Severally. So the question arose: Was this to win the Jewish vote back home?Politimetrics immediately says NO. The math does not add up. American Jewery is in the main DP, and not GOP. And the younger generations, more secular and critical of Israel, are even more DP. It is in the dying older generation of American Jews that Israel is the determinant. For Romney to beat Obama on the Jewish front, he would need a national swing of 15% [now the mathematicians start arguing which methodology is being used, so this figure varies +/-5]. And in some states 25%. Such wild swings have never happened with American Jews in presidential elections, and are statistically unlikely to happen now. It is a lost battle, so Romney could not have been in Israel talking tough to grab the Jewish vote from Obama in any significant level. So why was he there? Money. There is a specific constituency of super-monied American and International Jewery which is fiercely pro Israel and anti Iran. If Romney makes the right noises on this front, their largesse dwarfs the collective GDP of Afrika, for a century! TV channels are going to make a killing this season, churning out ads. Ethnic math, who says Kenyans are the only professors in it?

Though it is true that picking him will make Team Romney start talking about "ideas" (think Ryans budget and his ideas on medicare) something Romney lacks, many Republican "professionals" are questioning the pick in hushed tones. Some say, as JAKASWANGA puts it, that he is a sarah palin reincarnated " Sarah Palin photoshoped" is the phrase. ...Another strategist emailed midway through Romney and Ryan’s first joint event Saturday: “The good news is that this ticket now has a vision. The bad news is that vision is basically just a chart of numbers used to justify policies that are extremely unpopular.” Read more: www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/79697.htmlNice analysis Jakaswanga but what if Romney went for a moderate woman ? he still has the conservative votes but wouldnt that help more in gaining the white working class votes ? especially the females where he is destined to lose badly if polls the past year are anything to go by.

that was our vintage jakaswanga right there! anyway, i noted that an hour into the romney campaign team confirmation of ryn(the media had gone to town with the unconfirmed report a day to) donors went on a spree and there is surely a notable margin between the coffer's limit before the announcement and now. the democrats weren't lying idle either.besides shadowing romney in his bus tours with their uchokozi, team obama heightened the messagingbiden seems to be out of my radar but i could tell that barry, then politician was in his element. i share the view of democratic strategist mike lux in the link below. www.thedemocraticstrategist.org/

Read more: www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/79697.html but what if Romney went for a moderate woman ? he still has the conservative votes but wouldnt that help more in gaining the white working class votes ? especially the females where he is destined to lose badly if polls the past year are anything to go by.Nereah, If Romney were brave, and a daring risk-taker as he is reputed to be in his business, he would have thoroughly considered this option. But he is so incecure of his conservative credentials, that he went with the boys in finding it unthinkable after the debacle with Sarah Pallin by MacCain. But this is the way I see it in a more bare-knuckles way: If he went for a moderate woman as you put it, white I should add, the right-wing press would kill him. You know they are not convinced of the conservative credentials of this Mormom Christian Romney. When he was governor of the progressive Massachusetts, did he not enact an Obamacare like health insurance? Did he not, then, not exactly say whether he was pro- or against choice... and did he not occasionally sound like a 'loony leftie', say ala Al Gore, when he talked about the environment?? etc. They would just dismiss him as the white Obama! No, the real republican base thinks Romney is a closet liberal, and a fake Christian to boot! remember how flip-floppy the primaries went for him. He aint a natural GOP-er, and was really nobody's darling, just the best of the worst ever. To dispel these pedigree doubts, he needs a super hawk of an ideologue, a thorough-breed conservative of impeccable credentials, to inculcate confidence in his ticket, and arouse rubble amongst the base. (And indeed Ryan has energised~/excited the base according to conservative press]! In this calculation, I think a moderate woman wont do. At the same time, the kind of policies a 'moderate woman' would expound, are likely to be Obama-friendly or Kogelo-like. Take for instance Health-care {Obamacare} which Ryan wants to hollow out: Remember that for working-class marriages that fail, mostly the women are left with the care of the kids (the men disappear into the arms of other women and forget their responsibilities, that is if they are lucky to be in job still!) Affordable health-care is therefore very popular amongst working class females of whatever race. A moderate candidate would therefore fail to attack Obamacare with vehemence likethe rich man's errand boy Ryan of Wisconsin. Then you know wuod Kogelo has been doing some very evil things, but which capture the moderate white female sensibilities.1. May be pro-choice! {ha ha, adequately vague as to be neutral, or not???! 2. Only yesterday, Tammy Smith, became the first homosexual [she is lesbo] to be crowned full General in the USA army! On 1 September 2012, the policy DADT {Don't ask Don't tell} ends. It was instituted by Bill Clinton on 21/09/93. (then a very very progressive step. Obama now takes it a stage further in throwing a bone to the liberal left, but at the same time, the collateral effects of this, is popular with a wide section of working class females --of all races. They can officially claim 'inheritance' if their lesbian partner dies! Obama does cover his home bases I swear.) Remember the embarassment caused to the GOP when Dick Chenney's girl came out of the closet, and senior republicans were caught, if you will forgive the phrase, with their opinions pants down. 3. Obama picked Sotomayor to be the first female Latino judge to the supreme court. Apart from neutralizing Rubio of Florida long ahead of time, this is a popular thing with MODERATE white women, but a horribilis to conservatives. So, Nereah yuora, wuod Kogelo has left Romney with no choice but to go ideological. Radically ideological. If you ask me, the only way Romney-Ryan can win, is to be totally racist. To evoke the most passionate of white primordial fears for the blackman. Or they can collude with Bibi to start a war in Iran, in the hope of blowing Obama off course. making him loose his coold and nerve, an be Mr. Obama Drama!Obama is a cold-blood. Instinctively ruthless. Looking at the way he callously and casually uses murderous drones, it would be a great mistake for Bibi and Ehud, the two children running Israel, to force his hand. (The millitary high-command in Israel does not want to gamble away their American trump card that easy. By some reports, this is the reason Bibi has not yet had his war!} But a eurozone collapse before the elections, sending the american economy into deeper red, would help Mitt too, methinks.

b6k,
I am pleasantly surprised! I used to think the dailybeast was a tabloid, but my mistake, since the last time I 'bought' it was when the Golfer aka Tiger Woods, was in the wood work. Word was he had a permanent hard-on, which could only be eased by blondes of exquisite lip-service. Such as do speak in tongues!
Romney and his gaffes, he is Joe Biden's match in that!

jakaswanga,
i guess you were addressing omundu instead of nereah given the quote was from omundu's post.
anyway,
i marvel at the energy that this development has infused in the previously dull gop orbit.
i read somewhere that the pick of ryan was a game changer in the sense that it literally gives the us campaign discourse a fiscal turn. maybe maybe not. lets watch the hustings!

See that lovely blonde up there? bell hooks did say that some black men think that the reason we had the civil rights movement was so they could sleep with white women. But I digress. She's as mean as they come that blonde. In that contact with Obama where she was telling him off on an airstrip in full public view she was exercising her race privilege. Reminding us who the boss really is. I would have liked to see her wag her finger at any other president of the U.S and see if that would fly. But with Obama, fly it did. This week Obama's immigration initiative which allows youth who were brought to the U.S by their guardians/parents to apply for a 2 year work permit was launched. "President Obama initiated the program on June 15 using his executive authority. He did so after legislation known as the Dream Act — which he supported and which would have given legal status to young immigrants — stalled in Congress. He made broad use of his presidential powers, with as many as 1.7 million immigrants estimated to be eligible for deferrals."www.nytimes.com/2012/08/16/us/illegal-immigrants-line-up-for-deportation-deferrals.html?_r=2&hpnow what makes more sense than this measly move by Obama which to start with only allows a 2 year work permit for young people who have grown up in the U.S. These youth don't know any other country. Some of them don't even find out that they're illegal "aliens" until they've grow up. Commonsense would dictate that it's is more beneficial for the U.S to let these people stay. For one it keeps families together, and it's cheaper than raising the population by bringing in new immigrants. These kids already know this country. They've grown up and been educated there. But then what would happen to fortress North America and by that we exclude Mexico because after all only Canada and U.S are a part of North America right? wrong! But Governor Brewer hard core neo-conservative that she is has other ideas. So this is what madame did this week. www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/79779.html

Paul Ryan is not having it easy after his 'powerful' speech at the republican convention in Talpa Florida. A fox opinion-maker describes it in 3 words, the explains. Dazzling, Deceiving, Distracting. www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/2. Deceiving On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold. The good news is that the Romney-Ryan campaign has likely created dozens of new jobs among the legions of additional fact checkers that media outlets are rushing to hire to sift through the mountain of cow dung that flowed from Ryan’s mouth. Said fact checkers have already condemned certain arguments that Ryan still irresponsibly repeated. Fact: While Ryan tried to pin the downgrade of the United States’ credit rating on spending under President Obama, the credit rating was actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling. Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under President George W. Bush. Ryan actually asked for federal spending to save the plant, while Romney has criticized the auto industry bailout that President Obama ultimately enacted to prevent other plants from closing. Fact: Though Ryan insisted that President Obama wants to give all the credit for private sector success to government, that isn't what the president said. Period. Fact: Though Paul Ryan accused President Obama of taking $716 billion out of Medicare, the fact is that that amount was savings in Medicare reimbursement rates (which, incidentally, save Medicare recipients out-of-pocket costs, too) and Ryan himself embraced these savings in his budget plan. This was an excellent speech delivered by Sandra Fluke at the Democratic Party Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina tonight. Earlier this year she was embroiled in a controversy over her demands and activism around the Women's Movement's demand for the availability of safe and affordable contraception for women.read here: gawker.com/5889676/rush-limbaugh-women-who-want-birth-control-are-misogynist slams And watch Sandra Fluke deliver her speech at the Convention here

It was an act, a show that even the show-masters of North Korea would recognise as out of their range. As it happened, the grapevine said Bill Clinton would have to perform a delicate balancing act, akin to a circus artist. Pitch his best for Barack Obama, but not outshine him. On stage would be the first and second black presidents of the USA with a competitive woman between them! And now that I have watched them both, I really thought I saw the best of modern American oratory theater. At one moment Bill, with a mischievous, nearly stupid grin on his face said: this [goodly] Obama fella appointed into office, some people who had been very Senior in the Hillary campaign, and those weren't your soft punchers you know! ---Heck! [indescribable body language] guy even appointed Hillary to office! --oops, you don't know who Hillary is??? [the audience pees on itself with thunderous laughter and clapping]! An inspired performance of political genius. Rehearsed yes, but the delivery is triple Oscar on all categories.] On the republican agenda: vote for me and do not ask me what we will do with your money! Of course we know: give themselves tax cut after tax cut, and create another financial mess --like George Bush! The mess he left Obama to clear, and which that other ticket is complaining Obama is not clearing fast enough. --haa, America knows better! [Everyone on his feet on riot] Clinton's jaws hanging open to remind folks of just what a moron George Bush really was! and just a hint, that Romney, for all his jobs talk, is even more loony --a Mormon!]. Bill was consummate, vintage and extraordinary. [the white working class constituency which Ryan and Romney wants to woo away from Obama by any means necessary, had to be convinced the DP is still the home of the Whites. The comeback kid was touching base, as only a southerner can]. I wondered whether he had not hit the bar too high for Barack the next day. Clinton is a reminder of a USA before September 11, sane public finances and a king creator of jobs in his time. The comparison with the latest Obama figures could be too striking, if his media profile became too sharp, Obama would find it hard to achieve, to surpass or at least equal the maestro --he come back kid from the south. Newt Gingrich was quick on the sneer: what a pity their best candidate is not running! Now, my vision of Obama is that of the tragic hero. A brilliant general arriving on the scene of a great-battle which is already lost, and whose historical mission is to guide an ordered retreat, to pep talk the demoralized, defeated troops, and think out a new vision of tomorrow for the army and nation. Obama's job then, according to me, is authoring, articulating a new vision in a time of despair. Why?? The USA, only ten years ago the ruling unipolar, sole world super-power, is today a nation internally torn, broke and with no power to neither police nor shape the world according her wishes. 1. As Romney and Obama gave their speeches within the same week, Bashir al Assad unleashed helicopter gun-ships on a civilian population in a city, lining up for bread, two days in a row. casualties more than 300 dead. Documented and splashed as headline news. But not even a meaninful murmur from the two men running to be the world's official most powerful man. There were days when a no-fly zone to protect civilians would have been announced unilaterally in Washington with much pomp and fanfare, with chain-chewing-ball-bearing-sh!ting toughies of generals surrounding the CIC of God's country on earth. 2. With tight sanctions against her, hundreds of world leaders including powerful allies of the USA flocked to Tehran of Iran, in the name of something called non-aligned movement! --thought the thing was dead after the collapse of the USSR??? with the Iranians jokingly toying with the Americans, saying Hillary would attend, oops, she sent apologies! Coupled with other events like an increasingly assertive Brazil in what used to be the backyard of the USA, Latin Amerika, these are tell-tale signs of a waning influence on the global stage. Increasingly becoming one of the many players. The debt arising from the wars Bush railroaded the country into, and resultant economic woes in a changed world, is Obama's mess to clear. And he can not do it in the old gang-ho fashion of exporting contradictions ---conducting more foreign wars! So he needs to articulate a vision, a new vision of a shrunken but healthy and effective big country. Prosperous, but no longer everybody's cop, nor hate-figure abroad. Listening to Obama, declaring there is a FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE between the GOP and the DP, A STARK CHOICE BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT FUTURES, and recognizing Bill Clinton had said the same in different words, I thought here is the clear statement of realisation that the gun-ho days are gone. And, more importantly, the permanent stalemate in congress which had paralysed the initiatives of the Obama administration in the past four years, had killed the customary wheeling and dealing of running the USA from the middle, bipartisanship was being buried here. The GOP had also increasingly, in turn, turned staunchly ideological. When Obama then went ahead to articulate the reclaimed America, the original values of the great nation which now only the DP can be custodian of, the look on the faces in the hall were those of a audience before a messianic fella. [That messianic fellas do not do well in econs is another matter]. Obama is still running on vision, and instinctively he was being understood. Surprisingly no criticism when he denounced those who still thought Russia was the key-enemy as living in political Miocene. Of course the statistics of the economic recovery released the same night were a layer of ice too thin to skate on, a record too risky run on, so the rhetoric had to go hot elsewhere. But even then, this was hot stuff. Then there is the, good lord, racial composition of the conventions. No American can deny it. No paper, no commentator. The GOP is a white thing. The Condy Rices, Herman McCain's, Rubios of Florida, could not mask the glaring discrepancy in this variable of race. The DP convention on the other hand, looked like the modern America, mostly cities and cosmopolitan states yes, but it also strangely looked like the United Nations general assembly. It looked a normal picture. The question was, was this orchestrated, a deliberate act of propaganda, or was this just the way it is? well, some statistics say amongst under 16s in the USA, white to non-white is just about 50:50. So the hall was a vision of the future in that respect, and No, the DP denies it was not pre-arranged for propaganda. Heck! that would be stupid! it would unleash a white-backlash, the evidence that 'they are taking over out country'! The right-wing press was quick to say Obama was vague on specifics of how he plans to create jobs, rebuild the economy. America can not live words, preacher-man! Meanwhile Challenger Romney has gone into conclave with his best strategists in a Vermont hide-out, to prepare for his first public debate with the the slayer of Osama bin Ladin. -------------------------- videos will be found here, in obamamania websight. ochairball.blogspot.nl/
