Good game that was Kamale. Giovinho and podolski were awesome. Nice one from our players. I also got up expecting a whalloping similar to what arsenal gave the other team.
Pundits and media may say Romney won but what i have been asking is won based on what ? if we judged the debate by aggressiveness (sp) and playing like a kid wanting the last word and castigating the moderator (he even said he will fire the moderator and 'big bird' from sesame street. cant wait for the obama campaign to pounce on this) then Romney won. But debates are not arguements.
Obama gave his points which fact checkers have proved true mostly as opposed to romney who even flipped within the debate> mara saying ati he will let the states decide which medicare option is best then a minute later saying ati he will go the voucher way.
Withing a week or two, the Obama campaign will feed on the fodder that Romney has given them with the blatant factless lies and flip flopping. The cnn poll on who won was done on southern white males (some sections show it was 100% southern white males. can someone check on this please)
Yes Obama was lethargic but if he came out gunz blazing, people would have used the "angry black man" theme. Lets concentrate on the facts of the debate. On that Obama won hands down.

I watched. My take is that Romney and his crowd will go to bed happy because he came juiced up to make noice, and noice he did make - for many who just hate Obama and who have been disappointed that Romney was not standing up as a credible replacement, noice or anything to put Romney up is all they needed. Obama disappointed in a way, because he did not come at at Romney strongly while the latter disowned several of the ideas he's been touting from primaries to the last few days. There are too many weak spots of Romney that Obama could have exploited, and he did not - for example Romney's claim that he's for middle and low income earners, yet just the other day a video clip came out showing how low he views them, and neither the moderator nor Obama brought that up. Obama has probably underestimated his competition. Romney has shown consistently that he does not have concrete ideas that he believes in (except the disdain for those who are not very rich). Another thing he has show is that he has no respect for consistency of character, and will change his positions on any issue from venue to venue without apology. So, in a way, what seems like a win for him could turn to be a catastrophe for his campaign because he cannot afford to disown the ideas he presented today as he's been doing all along. When pressed for details, Romney will find it difficult to substantiate the ideas he bull-headedly presented today. But on Obama, there was no energy - I think he was caught off-guard by Romney's chamelleon stunt! Thanks Man K for the detailed summary. Your views in many ways agree with what I have seen on twitter so far. I am shocked that even diehard Obama supporters like Ed Scholes are very disappointed with the man's performance. No one seems to think otherwise.
I agree with you, Romney could easily outfox Obama just the same way he did with his fellow republicans in the primaries. He seems a very cunning politician and always gets away from trouble very, very easily. Welcome Mwalim. I have not had an opportunity to take the pulse of last nights event on today's gossip (news) ... but I am sure the quality of the debate will continue to trickle for a while. But with the hate propagated against Obama, Romney has a very low hurdle to jump, and come Jan he could be the president .... I think that that would prove to be a comedy ahead of a funeral, and should it happen, the Americans deserve every bit of it ... unfortunately the rest of the world would not be spared even though they have not bargained for it.

Ati we are in the twentieth century, not eighteen something. people will get the facts by the flick of a button. Yeah, that's a good reference to the frustration among Obama folks. Unfortunately only Obama folks will listen to such a source, and they do not even need to hear this source to make their decision. Folks, US is a strange country ... this is where people brag all day long about freedoms that they notoriously misuse in self-elected ignorance. I find it interesting to drive around my neighbourhood seeing the placards planted on front yards ... it is here you see people with disabilities, people living on unemployment benefits, etc, proudly planting adverts of the a guy who is on record lampooning, insulting and condemning everyone one who receives such benefits. Ha! So, if I were to speak to Romney, I would say: Go Romney ... be president and put the 47% in their place ... most of them support you toward that mission!

unemployment down to 7.8%, just what obama needed to change the narrative....after the recent belly flop of a debate.

KK,Obame will need to figure out how to run tings around Romney in the one-on-one situations. Otherwise Romney has shown over and over that he can easily survive through very tough situations.

I watched the debate live and my take was that Obama didnt look like he wanted to be there at all. I am not sure if it had anything to do with his 20th wedding annivesary or the contempt he has for his opponent's slickyness, and didnt think he was worth just a little bit of effort...... I mean the man has been making gaffe after gaffe without much of an uproar, especially the last one about 47% of 'lazy Americans'. Obama also kept addressing the American people (as if giving a speech), barely looked at Romney who was direct, scornful and almost talking down at him.
Romney was big on generalities i.e reducing the budget deficit while lowering taxes at the same time, but when pressed for details, he had no concrete plans of how he hopes to achieve them. Obama was a little more detailed about the specifics with the arithmetic to boot, but no one was paying attention to that. That may have something to do with the America's love for show business and flare for theatrics.
I wasnt too worried about this first debate until I saw Omwenga asking us to pray. ;D Obama is known as the come back kid for a reason, remember the debates with Hillary Clinton in 2008, so this was just a warm up of things to come. His idea of going soft on Romney and appearing presidential backfired, so he will have to unleash the his bag of tricks, and there is plenty.
My concern is for his VP. The VP debate is next week and Biden is not only much older (no pun) than his opponent but rustier and he is known to make a few Gaffe's of his own. Paul Ryan is no Palin so this should be interesting.

Mwalimumkuu, I still can't believe I woke up to watch that debate that was on at 04:00 hrs KE time. Obama was lethargic & seemed kind of nervous. It was a poor performance from the usually eloquent politician. This one went to Romney. Two to go.... B6k Even worse for me....late night Arsenal game (yes we won that!) and then up at 4 a.m. and Obama sends me to sleep!! If you tracked it on CNN, the undecided voters had women a lot more positively responsive than men on anything that Obama said! Kamale, I had also watched the Arsenal match & imbibed in all that appertains to watching such matches before setting my alarm for the big debate ;D . Hence my disappointment in Barry's lackluster performance.

come to think of it, that romantic overkill that was the obamas wedding anniversary should have been delayed for a day or two. shame on who ever thought it wise to mix this special day with the big face off with romney. ok,lets admit it, obama let go his mojo at the denver and the moderator seems to have unspoken bias for romney even though he did give obama more time. i share omundu's view and indeed, the focus should be on the half truths and outright inaccuracies that romney gave during the debate.

Paul Ryan is no Palin so this should be interesting. Moesha,The prayers worked as Obama has bounced right back! ;D The right wing nuts favorite pollster, Rasimussen, rushed to produce a poll yesterday that shows that the race tightened after the debate and that Romney even overtook Obama in his must win state of Florida. The good thing is, even this biased pollster could not cook enough numbers to show Romney winning nationally over Obama and not even in all the key battleground states, except for Florida he had to show Romney winning to give Republicans hope. Most of the important polls by more objective and better trusted firms reflecting the debate will be out by Monday. My take is you'll see a Romney bounce which will be much smaller even completely erased by the good economic news that came out yesterday regarding unemployment. Whatever that bounce is, it'll be erased come next election debate because Obama must bring his A game on this time. Note second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. This format naturally favors Obama who is very likeable and folksy with people across the board. You're right about GF (Gaffe Factory, not girlfriend) and our friend Joe Biden but if there is any consolation, he's known to do well in debates as evinced by his long record on the Senate floor where he hardly committed his signature sin. So, worry no more but keep the prayers (and the cash for those who can) coming for the man still needs both through election day ;D

The incomparable former US President Bill Clinton has once again come to Obama's rescue by laying out the case against Romney and his flip-flopping as only he can do. Someone better hurry and start making back to back 30-second commercials from this gem of a performance by the master politician. If Americans did not have term limits, this man can actually beat both Obama and Romney or anyone else for that matter any day for the top job. The irony there is Obama actually beat both he and Hillary back in 2008. Go figure!

Neareah, Kathure, Omwenga et al
I am hoping you guys watched the Vee pee debate. it was awesome and i hope Barrack takes some pointers there on how to debate a liar. Joe Biden (Laughing Joe as some have tended to call him post debate) really took Ryan to the cleaners. he had Ryan on the back foot trying to defend themselves but nothing was forthcoming. I liked the moderator (a certain lady. I forget her name) she showed the previous moderator how to handle debates by pulling the leash when needed.
Biden came out swinging and got Ryan on all his lies. he pushed Ryan to the corner and the message that came out from the Repubs was "we have a plan, but vote for us and then we will give you the details" something that wouldnt sit well with moderates.
My funniest tweet was from Bill maher "9 1 1. i am just witnessing an old man beating up a young boy on my TV"
Fact is, Paul Ryan looked way out of his depth, and for a party that spent the last four years claiming Biden was an idiot, it turns out he turned the GOP's "policy wonk" into roadkill. Difference between tonight and Wednesday. Mitt Romney won Wednesday because President Obama treated the debate like a joint press conference and didn't fight back. Joe Biden won the debate tonight by pounding Paul Ryan.
- On foreign policy, Biden proved that the GOP are just quick to point fingers like the Benghazi accident, Iran and Syria yet when asked what they would do differently they (like Ryan did tonight) state they would follow the same steps and policies the Obama administration has been doing. Ryan was close to saying they would go to war when pushed, but he checked himself.
- My best "Zinger" was during the economy debate when Ryan was all on the "stimulus didnt help and was a waste of money mantra" Romney hit back telling americans to check on his VP website where there exists two letters from ryan asking for a stimulus for his state stating that it will help in improving the economy.
There is a lot that went well with the debate that i cant put here but will provide the youtube link for ya'll to indulge. Fact checkers are also busy rebutting most of Ryans lies.
Nereah, The Romney post debate bounce was just a bounce that as of yesterday, had already receded back to pre-debate numbers. You also have to note that those CNN numbers you have been seeing are actually of likely voter as opposed to registered voters.
The LV numbers for Romney were up because of the enthusiasm to vote that the GOP got from the prs debate. If you look at Registered voter numbers, even conservative pollsters like Gallup still had Obama up by four to five points during his 'dark days' last week. So dont worry, They gat this.
One other thing; i have started to distrust CNN and their partisan reporting. i wonder what happened to them over the past ten years. Kina Wolf Blitzer et al started saying that the debate was a draw when other networks were saying Biden took it by a mile. The other networks had online polls showing that Biden won it by as much as 61% to 32% while cnn called it a statistical draw with Ryan at 48% and Biden at 44%. I checked the finer details of the sampling only to find out they had oversampled republicans by over 3% (they had it as a footnote hidden somehwere. hahahaha)
Basically they had it sampled by 8% more for Ryan if you look at the RV's nationwide where dems have 5% more registered voters than repubs.

It’s absurd to say nice things about Obama then go ahead to choose useless leaders
Posted Saturday, November 10 2012 at 16:49 Give it to the young man with some Kenyan blood living on Pennsylvania Avenue: He liked the job he had, he knew it was good and saw no one better able to do it than he. So he fought tooth and nail, if such a thing makes sense, and, braving all odds, gave the lie to the pundits and kept his job, and with it he gets to keep the mansion.
For many weeks Barack Obama seemed like another one-term president, running down his last sandglass hours toward the conclusion of an experience born of a fluke, an accidental presidency aided in its creation by the incredible ineptitude of George W, and one that was destined to find proper correction with the first electoral occasion.
The American right literally bayed for his blood. All manner of nutcases, not necessarily all of them on the loony fringes, spun yarns destined to discredit him. He was not born in America; he was a Muslim; he was a socialist, an Arab, an Indonesian. At one time I thought they were going to say he was ET, but I think they hesitated because in American pop culture ET was so beloved of children.
For some reason I cannot explain, I wanted him to win again. Maybe it is all that nonsense about a Black man — though he is not really black — running the lone superpower of the world. Maybe there is a thrill about being able to say that the leading imperialist in the world is almost the same colour as you. Maybe it’s because he is, in his genesis, from Kogelo, and that makes him a neighbour that one might go visit one day and have a little nyuka (porridge) with.
But most likely it is about all the nasties surrounding Mitt Romney’s campaign who, in their collective “Romneysia,” as Barack so aptly termed it (after borrowing it) forgot just on whose watch the economic meltdown happened in the first instance, and who started the healing process that is now seen to be bringing some respite.
The Romneysia was so palpable in all the right wing campaigns that you half expected them to one day produce a bearded fellow in flowing white robes, carrying an AK-47. If the guy managed to mouth a few words in Arabic and recite a verse of the Qur’an, that would be more than incontrovertible proof that Obama’s story of Osama bin Laden’s death was a hoax.
I am not one of those who believe that Obama in the White House twice over is an indication of a post-racial America, but, hey guys, it sure has moved on. A Black (well, almost) man winning the presidency twice in the face of such ferocious and bigoted campaigns that never once let the voters forget of his exotic origins?
Quit whining
Well, for me, that is some change that cannot be wholly explained by the smarts and energy of the incumbent nor by the buffoonery and forgetfulness of his challenger. As sure as I know I am not writing this on a typewriter, I know something has changed in America.
It may not be good for Africa, not necessarily. “Uncle Toms”, as we know, can be very useful to the master, sometimes going out of their way to show that they are not on the side of some of their more uppity brothers.
Still, it is absurd for Africans to continue whining about Obama not showing sufficient interest in helping Africa like George W. Bush did. Whatever the latter’s reasons for his exaggerated interest, an American president is president of the American people, not ours, and it is to them and to (and for) them alone that he is responsible. Obama may be part Luo, but for sure he ain’t Kenyan, nor East African, nor African.
Once we get that right we may start getting rid of that debilitating mental ailment that makes us think we can choose useless leaders who do nothing except plunder our countries and then turn to leaders we did not choose, other peoples’ leaders, expecting them to provide us with the services that our leaders have failed to provide us with.
