When Musalia Mudavadi left the ODM, earlier in the year, things looked very good for him. Kenyans around the country looked at him very favorably as a president they can work with if elected. He was not only named Macharia in central, but RV viewed him as one of their own having been born somewhere in Baringo.
But then, just as one would expect in politics, the other players, especially Ruto and Uhuru saw an opening and very fast, they went for the kill. This in some way left Mudavadi expossed and his bid hanging in a balance. Matters were not helped by the lack of unity among Luhya leaders. However it is in this latter problem that Mudavadi's strength lies especially at the moment.
The unlikability of Cyrus Jirongo, the indecisiveness of Moses Wetangula and the lack of any meaningful strategy by Eugine Wamalwa has created an opening that Mudavadi must squeeze himself through and make a mark for himself. As things stand, he has no chance of being president unless he is endorsed by one big block, which is quite remote at the moment. But this is a time to build his foundation. All the current leading candidates save for Ruto, have managed to have a hold on their constituencies by running for presidency, Ruto achieved it byleading NO campaign in the referendum.
This therefore means that, for Mudavadi to have any ground to stand on in the next five years, he must not accept a deal that relegates him to a lower position. He has so far held his own well, and must continue. He must run for PORK regardless. Running will not only cut him the niche he so badly needs, but will help him 'kill' the other Luhya pretenders, especially Wamalwa who is very down at the moment and almost out. This is the time to pounce, and Mudavadi must pounce without any reservations. He must go to the wire, his better days are still ahead of him especially after Raila is retired in this election.

Right thing FOR MUDAVADI IS TO COME CLEAN and to move over back to where he was promised running mate or is he waiting for second round at the ballot box to Merge with Uhuruto as rumors has it he was promised $$$$$$ and position? the problem he is having is convincing other parties to partner with him with the Pre-conditions he already signed on with" UHURUTO CAMP" NA MAMBO BADO

STATEMENT BY HON MUSALIA MUDAVADI, DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER
• I wish to reaffirm today my commitment to pursuing the goals I set out to achieve in my quest for the Presidency on a United Democratic Forum (UDF) Party ticket come the General Election in May next year.
• My supporters all over Kenya should know that I am as committed as ever to deliver on the promise of a harmonious, stable and prosperous Kenya.
• In the past week, UDF held talks with other parties with a view to reaching a pre-election arrangement. There are many areas of agreement and consensus with these parties. Other parties have asked to join this broad national people’s coalition hence the delay in hosting the ceremony at Freedom Corner today to accommodate the signing and meeting the filling of agreements deadline. A public announcement of the national people’s coalition will be made before the end of the week.
• As I have had occasion to say before, the next General Election in March 2013 presents Kenyans a historic opportunity to steer our country firmly on a path to peaceful coexistence to underpin the great economic promise of our motherland.
• I have always fashioned my politics on a non-tribal, all-inclusive and peaceful platform. I stand for unity and have a great desire to reconcile our people. My desire is to tap our national diversity and the tremendous reserves of goodwill that our people possess.
• We at UDF Party remain at all times committed to work with other parties in the wider interests of Kenya. It is why we have delayed a public announcement to accommodate more parties. But even as we leave the door open to new partners, we are emboldened by Henrik Ibsen’s famous words: “The strongest man in the world is he who stands alone.”
I want to assure my supporters that we are determined to go all the way in this race, and look forward to victory come March 4, 2013.

Private Secretary Director of Public Communication Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Local Government Despite this statement by Mr. Kabetesi on behalf of Mudavadi, night meeting still on-going and Mudavadi is expected to sign into a revised agreement with TNA/URP - shockingly being done right at the office of RPP. Will Musalia give in? Time will tell. The pressure is on and TNA/URP have been jolted into action by the earlier unveiled CORD alliance, built into a formidable 15 party strong coalition.

I'm getting info that Hon. Kosgey and the rest of Kalenjin MPs in ODM are disappointed with the new deal and are set to march out!!
I'm still trying to find myself , friends if I get back before I return please keep me here! Things are unfolding pretty fast, the fear of RAO is so intense that we are yet to see even more surprises!! I guess by Friday, we'll have a clear picture on what to expect as we go into the general election.
... There's a posibility that Uhuru & Ruto may step down in favor of Musalia & some Kelenjin but Uhuru isn't sure if the central folks can ride on that bus. He wants to wait until the integrity case is determined by the high court. ....
Railaphobia is toxic ...

" Presidency ticket. if you recall in the Diaspora that was the song being sang everywhere by Uhuru"TNT" supporters.. and it has come to pass.. Mudavadi is in.. lets wait and see.. Problem is they were depending on him to bring 90% of Luhya vote.. it ain't happening so lets watch the show.. and will the whole central province support Mudavadi Presidency ticket? eeh....

The TNA/URP/UDF coalition was signed in the dark (a few minutes to midnight). It clearly was a face-saving kneejerk reaction to the unveiling of CORD; and evidently no much thought was put into it. If their intent was to secure a safe alternative should the two suspects be barred from running then their approach was not smart.
Mudavadi would have served them best if he was allowed, like he wanted, to run on a ticket with PK and Tuju. Love them or not, the trio would have presented voters a somewhat humble and progressive looking alternative to the normal chaotic Kenya politics. With UhuRuto out of the race, a Mudavadi/PK/Tuju alliance would have given any formation of CORD a run for their money.
But leave it to the foolishness of UhuRuto and now their safe bet is in shambles. By allowing himself into the TNA/URP trap, Mudavadi has permanently soiled himself with the ICC tag. He will going forward have to profusely defend the ICC suspects and ridicule the Hague process everywhere he goes, domestic/international. In the process, he will loose the luster and appearance of truly compromise candidate in the eyes of Kenyans and the world. He now becomes another Ruto/Uhuru out to champion a pariah state upon Kenyans. What a loss.
If they were smart, UhuRuto would have secretly funded a formidable Mudavadi/PK/Tuju coalition, palatable to many Kenyans and the world as they await their fate in the courts. If barred, all their resources would have been channeled to Mudavadi/PK ticket and viola.
A Mudavadi/PK ticket, devoid of public UhuRuto influence, would fair well against a Raila/Kalonzo ticket.
Sasa kwisha.

Sasa kwisha. Mudavadi was always Uhuru"TNT" protégée.. from when he left ODM.. Uhuru"TNT" was funding all his compaign as rumour has it on the ground since they started crisscrossing all over the country even when Mudavadi was representing Kibaki at functions at home and abroad.. MUDAVADI ALREADY HAD CENTRAL PROVINCE APROVAL AS REPLACEMENT FOR UHURU ONCE THE TRAIN LEFT THE STATION.. Mudavadi could not have signed any deal with Peter Kenneth or Refeal Tuju at anytime .. his ticket was already bought and paid for by Uhuru"TNT" his hands were tied.. what Mudavadi was ordered to do by his controllers was to derail Peter Kenneth's champaign to presidency, Tuju was not a big deal.. ( he doesn't have voters might behind him) .. central divided between Peter Kenneth, Martha Karua and Uhuru was not what Uhuru"TNT" wanted have.. in comes Mudavadi to confuse the two gentlemen with a promise to sign a deal ... he checkmated them. Now I won't be surprised if the presidency goes to the second Ballot .. Peter & Tuju will place their support in Uhuruto & Mudavadi mix.. I believe that was the deal strike by Mudavadi, Tuju & Kenneth as rumour has it.. but hey lets wait and see I maybe wrong.. So First round
UHURUTO & MUDAVADI
SECOND ROUND IF THERE IS NO PRESIDENTIAL WINNER.. ( two party horse race)
UHURUTO, MUDAVADI, RAFAEL TUJU & PETER KENNETH runours has it this already has been agreed upon,, ( others to be added as deals continue being made in the dark.. rumour has it Marha Karua is playing hard ball but under pressure she might join up in th second round....) ;D ;D

Well Martha will have to make a choice come round two. If she joins the UhuruRutoMudavadi train in come then, Kenya will have to wait for many years before they seea woman president. She's been riding as a reformer and very soon (after March 4th) she will have to walk the talk! I guess the same applies to Peter Kenneth and Tuju..their mistakes will be a great value to my future run for presidency!!!

Not sure what Mudavadi got in this deal especially after his earlier statement that he was still in the race. Like Rais put it, the next few days will be interesting.
Regardless, Mudavadi provides the icing on the cake for the UhuRuto coalition in closing this thing in the first round and be done over with.

My friend Mwalimu,
It will be hard for either side to lock this election in 1st round given the conditions set in the constitution. The more than half the counties provision is achievable but not the 51% of total votes cast. We'll head to a runoff and IEBC better prepare.
The runoff will also offer a test for some of the small parties and specifically to their repective leaders. Who will Martha & PK join in case of a runoff? Will they join the coalition of reformers or the forces of status quo? Kayapi, Eugine, Jirongo, Kimencu n Biwott won't have any influence but it will still be interesting to see what side they ride on.
Above all, the race will be tough but I hope Kenyans will remain civil and treat each other with dignity and more importantly respect the freedom of association. We can all agree that we want a stable Kenya and certainly a prosperous one!

TNA/URP is cobbling rushed coalitions in the dead of night and having the old bespectacled Ole Kaparo signing foolscaps in the dark… and you think things are fine? The house is on fire my friend.

If this is not apparent to many as to why, give it a few more weeks as things unfold beginning from next week when Raila and his as yet to be determined running mate make it official. It will be something unlike what has been seen at this stage of the campaigns it will have their opponents too depressed to even manage a fake smile. And that's just the beginning of a formidable campaign one unlike any that has been witnessed in Kenya and a case study for years and decades to come.
