I guess the next big event should be for ODM to organize a 'home-coming rally' in uhuru park for Raila who is currently in china, at least to give spin masters an opportunity to prove RAO is still popular and probably drive the final nail on miguna coffin.

I wish to denounce the purported attack on Miguna's "harmless" family members in Ahero Township. Whereas I have a problem with the taste of Miguna's memoirs, I don't subscribe to this primitive way of sorting out political differences. If indeed there were elements who planned to attack his extended family, whether under instruction or of their own volition, I take exception to the Prime Minister's silence over this matter. As much as Miguna's merchandising of innuendo hurts the person and polity of Raila Odinga, protection of human life supersedes political contest. Arap Moi in his hey days victimised whole families for being pro-reform. Mr Odinga MUST not fall into that trap of a vindictive, intolerant avenger. Kenyans are wise enough to read and make judgement of what Miguna has written. In the meantime, the Government, led by the Supervisor and Co-ordinator, MUST guarantee the security of Miguna's family. Mr Odinga MUST be seen to not "kill" opponents. No life ought to be threatened merely because of political differences, whatever the motive.

Lol! Twitter for KTN & Standard (same source, really) seems to confirm this. Miguna is a riot! Come baby come has morphed to catch me if you can! You can't make this stuff up... Ooops! Folks, if you watch the Capital Talk video recorded the day after the launch that is posted by Joblesscorner in his video only thread you will hear MM clearly confirm that he will be leaving the country "next week" to do his book tour. The guy therefore did not flee the country. As for those stressing that he left with a lot of luggage, any family man would know that if you are moving with your family for a trip you know will last a month, you will move with quite a lot of suitcases. It comes with the territory. Apologies to MM for getting carried away with the "mob" on this one Whether he run away or i hiding or going and coming back who cares? I doubt if Kenyans find Miguna that important in their daily life except when it touches PEV.. Then damn right he should fo back to Kenya to give answers on to why he withheld such crucial information and if he feels that ICC is the place to appear to sit in the Dock like Nguyai so be it.. But Kenyans who lost their loved ones and are still waiting for Justice to be served feel very cheated and pissed off by someone who announces to the world that he withheld very crucial information on the PEV cases and turns round asking people to Kiss his feet or else!! ni upuzi gani hi!!!

I'm shocked when Miguna shows off at a press conference stating that he is " WITHHOLDING PEV INFORMATION.. no guns come out blazing to demanding that he releases this information to the authorities or ICC.. alah HOW ABOUT THOSE INNOCENT KENYANS WHO ARE 6FT UNDER WAITING FR JUSTICE!!!!! while Miguna seats around all these years withholding crucial information and all he can do is throw around accusations that people want to finish him!! bure kabisa!!

And no where near Ahero. Even Miguna himself confirms that they left the country at just about the same time. Miguna claims that because he was in a plane he didn't even read Sarah's response to his misguided allegations so how could Raila be remote-controlling 200 people from Ahero from a Flight heading to China ?? I strongly denounce any threatening of Miguna or his Family. I strongly denounce any false allegations towards Raila or anyone else without any facts.

I have a question for you dear genius. How did Miguna know, a MONTH AGO when he was booking his ticket to Toronto, that the police were heading to his home on Sunday, July 16, 2012? Do some of you really believe Miguna wuod Miguna is a marabout, a sangoma, an astrologer, a clairvoyant who can accurately PREDICT the hour and the minute when he is collared by the karau IN THE FUTURE? ..... Was that demeanour of a hunted man, scared shitless by an imminent arrest and interrogation session? How ridiculous can some of you get? !!!! The inverse question must be asked: what kind of man plans his holiday to start a few days after he unleashes such a political storm? What kind of man goes on planned leave when such a storm is in 5th gear? This smacks of contempt of the Kenyan people in general. This very anti-African contempt if found in passages of Miguna's book: "the Canadian society (unlike in Kenya) provides social, health, educational, infrastructural and physical securities that make life liveable. We had begun to take for granted clean water, electricity, good roads, weekly garbage collection, pervasive security, and mundane things such as reliable and functioning landline telephones and home mail delivery – which aren’t available in Kenya.
Leaving all that for an unknown, unpredictable and unstable life in Kenya with attendant political risks had been a difficult decision." Does this nut imply that he is doing us a favour??? He can stay in Canada forever for all I care! This is a man who would build a house in Runda - a place that has its own water supply, a higher mobile phone per capita than Canada, bi-weekly garbage collection, security ... and he comes and tells us that these things "aren't available in Kenya." "Whether at Kenya’s airports, hotels, restaurants or at social and political functions, those belonging to these two groups [Caucasians and Asians] are always served first and more politely than their African counterparts. It’s one despicable colonial and neocolonial legacy I have never accepted, and which is what I felt the burning desire to help change." By a show of hands, has any of us ever experienced mzungus or mhindis jumping the queues with impunity at ..... JKIA, Stanchart, Barclays, Pizza Inn, Nairobi Orphanage? How about at bars and restaurants? My only issue is that mzungus/mhindis earn more on average for the same jobs, but then again, there are some very very very highly paid black Kenyans and some very poor Mhindis (River Road, Tom Mboya, Kirinyaga, Ngara road dwellers - how many Africans live upstairs on these roads?) so that question is neither here nor there. "As we settled into our new Runda home..." Boasting! Nitwit! Shallow and egomanic! Miguna's hatred of Raila is a microcosm of his own hatred of Kenya, of Africa and of blackness in general.

How can this a$$h0le call Kenya "unknown, unpredictable and unstable??" He was born here. He grew up here!! How can it be unknown??? He is an intelligent man with a very good memory. He remembers Upper Hill when it was residential, he recalls Kenya Bus Service, phones booths --- then he calls it "unknown." He is just echoing the White Man's "dark continent" attitude. However, the White Man is being sincere -- Americans know nothing about Africa. Miguna knows Kenya. [page xix]" My support for Raila Odinga was predicated on this vision of a cleaned-up Kenya; a Kenya where leadership would be acquired and retained through progressive ideological clarity, honesty, integrity and commitment to the public good, where impunity would be punished unremittingly."
[page xvi] "I had political ambitions that, as a pragmatist, I knew I couldn’t fulfil in Canada. There was an invisible ceiling that all African Canadians knew we couldn’t penetrate or go beyond. Virtually every African Canadian I knew understood this unwritten law. As a lawyer, I could aspire to be, and perhaps even become, a superior court judge. But there was no evidence that Canadian society was ready to allow any one of us, no matter how qualified, talented, skilled, or experienced, to become a chief justice. In politics, it was possible to rise to the position of a councillor, mayor or parliamentarian. It was possible to become a cabinet minister – Lincoln Alexander and Zanana Akande had blazed a trail there. Yet why did they have to be thought of as trailblazers? I could not accept the fact that even my children (who were already exhibiting their father’s strong-willed stamina and ambitious streak) would have to adjust their dreams to fit neatly into the colour-coded social stratifications of Canada."
I can't understand: why didn't Miguna stay in Canada to clean up the "colour-coded social stratifications" Why didn't he fight the glass ceiling there? Why did he select Kenya as a better battlefield than Canada? The paragraph on Canada is inconsistent. Miguna admits that there have been minority trailblazers in Canadian public life. He proudly says his children display a "strong-willed stamina and ambitious streak." Then he says, "Yet why did they [Alexander, Akande] have to be thought of as trailblazers?" He laments "have to adjust their dreams to fit neatly into the colour-coded social stratifications of Canada." Questions: 1- Are his children ambitious (potential trailblazers) or not? He seems confused on this point. If they are ambitious, if they are potential trailblazers, then he should not have to worry about them "adjusting their dreams" to fit stratifications. If they adjust their dreams, then they are not "strong-willed" as he says. 2-He expresses admiration for 2 minority Canadian trailblazers then complains about the very phenomenon of admiring trailblazing. (This is the same person who complained about Raila being a nepotist then he complains about Raila not helping out Luos who have been in trouble in public positions. Can't he make up his mind??) Miguna is intellectually confused. He is not objective. He is an essentially emotional creature.

Yes, I expected that asking you to consider what the laws and regulations are in the specific areas of Ontario and Canada, and how the specific cases might be handled would not get a specific response. That's why I asked. ;D Here's one thing I can state with 100% certainty: There will be no "appealing", or "re-opening" or whatever in the cases against Miguna that were dismissed

Further, those from Luo Nyanza specifically need to distance themselves from this kind of uniformity madness. It is intolerant, repressive and -walhala-- undemocratic (And that is the thing Luos are collectively proud to have fought for ever since time immemorial ... only, poor things, they don't recognize it when it is at their doorstep!) These antics look like the position: 'all votes in this area are reserved for our man', ie, Uhuru ni Witu, and if you oppose, then you are an outcast', better dead. On an earlier matter, I did not catch the ODM crowd condemn the intimidation of personnel and subsequent vandalization of POA's Kisumu office, hours after its opening by Tuju. I am just saying, it is decent to stress democracy is open pluralism. And If one reserves the votes in his 'area', others too can do the same, and when the conflict gets hot, this mentality graduates into machete politics. The opposition beheaded. Condemnations of bad behaviour may sound ritualistic and rote, performed by a corrupt political class, but it is a necessary form of public decency which is also their duty. Silence is tacit approval. What a wretched tripe these guys really are.

OO I am honestly surprised that you would find time to respond to this mob lynching of Miguna your buddy. It is not worth your while and for some that want to have their own imagination on a fleeing Miguna, it only help suit their fancy. Someone told me prior to the 2007 elections that the biggest danger of a Raila presidency to Kenyans was not Raila himself.....but the mobs that follow him. He called it a Mob Dictatorship where anyone disagreeing with Raila would meet the wrath of the mobs as opposed to from Raila and his government! The last couple of days have shown what the mobs can do...starting to the flack that Mutunga got at the suggestion of being a guest at the book launch to the time the book first appeared in the media! calling other jukwaaists like omwenga, Job , Adongo, phil,
nalinali, kaburwo, rr, reporta, genius, mrembo, einstein, Otisot et
al
MOBS !!
Quite arrogant . Very distastefull. I guess you belong to Miguna's
league , the one of ... kiss my feet. Then follow him to Canada ! Nok,My take is these people are in great shock over the utter failure by Miguna to deliver on the promised KO. Last I checked, Raila is still standing tall and busy doing what he does best and that is finding solutions for Kenya's myriad of problems and, interestingly, even his usual lead enemies have actually refused to join Miguna in his crusade, which is quite telling, other than perhaps quietly buying truckloads of the book for "underground" distribution in the hopes people can read them without their commentary but even that will be proven to be a failure of its own because this book does nothing for the average mwananchi or for anyone for that matter and never will. Raila could not be luckier having Miguna being the one writing this book but no one else but Miguna would have created this circus.

Mr Odinga MUST be seen to not "kill" opponents. No life ought to be threatened merely because of political differences, whatever the motive. Kaburwo,You are over-reacting and unnecessarily dragging Raila's name to this incident or alleged plot to harm Miguna's family in Nyando. First, it is not a must that the PM must condemn every condemnable act for some acts such as someone saying they want to harm a family member of a book writer are so barbaric and obvious it's pointless to so condemn them and, in fact, to condemn them may heighten their significance beyond what they truly are. Second, we have laws in books precisely to deal with criminal conduct like that. Thus, if anyone has, in fact, made statements to the effect they intend to harm Miguna's family members, it's quite an unreasonable stretch to call for the PM to say or do anything about this when those charged with enforcing law and order can and must easily take care of this as this is their job! As I noted months ago in Miguna's Allegations Are Problematic But Should Be Investigated Nonetheless omwenga.com/2011/11/19/miguna-has-made-a-serious-allegation-let-the-police-investigate-all-aspects-of-it/, which equally applies here: Again, let the police do their work and if what Miguna says is true, then the police should have the culprits in custody by now or in days as it’s Migori we are talking about not New York or Hong Kong or even Nairobi for that matter. This is the time to let the police do its work and not the time to unnecessarily invoke past instances of political assassinations or attempts that have ZERO parallels to this allegation. Finally, Miguna’s contention that “My life is more sacred and more important than someone’s delusional belief that he has a God-given right to the presidency of the Republic of Kenya” and demand for reinstatement of his security detail totally undermines his claim regardless of the outcome of the investigation. Kenyans from all walks of life are threatened with their lives and/or are actually attacked and even killed for reasons that have nothing to do with politics but their lives are no less sacred than Miguna’s to warrant any less protection from our government. This kind of assertions introduce politics to an otherwise serious allegation making it easily dismissible as another political stunt even when it may be an isolated case of criminal conduct by individuals acting on their own and not at the direction of anyone at worst. Finally but not least--and I really don't have time to develop fully this point, even as people are quick to condemn the burning of an effigy of Miguna and coffin as an act of intolerance, Raila worship, etc, they actually must step back and see it from another side and that's one of freedom of expression! Freedom of expression does not mean freedom of expressing that which we are comfortable with. Where such freedom of expression crosses the line to criminality, the law is there to protect the innocent and ditto for when the expression crosses the acceptable line of civility or otherwise harms others short of criminal conduct, we still have laws to protect the innocent there so let those who engage in the expression do so freely but with this reality in mind.

Brother Jakaswanga,Please see my response to Kaburwo and I hate to disagree with you, too ;D But you have raised a different issue which, I unfortunately, too, don't have time and wish I did to respond to and that is the near unanimous support of Raila in Luoland. Here is my proposition I wish to develop soon into a blog: Because of historical reasons, two communities in Kenya will still vote as a block in 2012/2013 and that is, Luos and Kikuyus. Of the two, Kikuyus will vote less of a block because of attitudinal changes and shifts in the region brought about again by historical factors that have yet to catch fire in Luoland precisely because of that history. This phenomena will gradually disappear in both communities but that does not mean by any means that we shall not have influential families and/or individuals from many of our communities who shall continue to influence and/or dominate their respective community politics. Nothing wrong with that.

Mr Odinga MUST be seen to not "kill" opponents. No life ought to be threatened merely because of political differences, whatever the motive. And since when did peaceful mass action become illegal? Let's stop this shameless hyupocrisy. You look at Miguna's statement denouncing public and peaceful demonstrations in Ahero and remembering his defence of ODM demonstrators one wonders when the law changed. Here's Big Mig himself defending the right to demonstrate: Mass action, demonstrations and protests are guaranteed in the Constitution By: Miguna Miguna Published: Tuesday December 28th, 2010
We need to put an end to some nonsense being peddled by desperate people that those who called for mass action, protests and demonstrations against the massive rigging of the 2007 presidential elections and the reckless execution of a civilian coup against the popular will of the Kenyan people are somehow most responsible for the crimes against humanity – the deliberate mass rapes, displacements and deaths - committed against innocent civilians in Kenya after those elections.
Not only is mass action a constitutional right; freedom of association, expression and peaceful protest were guaranteed even in the old Constitution. There isn’t a democratic constitution or international convention in the world that prohibits those fundamental rights; which are inalienable to all human beings by virtue of their humanity. The right to peaceful assembly or protest against the perpetration of wrongs, the infringements of fundamental rights and freedoms, and popular action against dictatorship and autocracy, are ancient and fundamental. Their entrenchment and guarantee in the people’s charter is intended only as a formality and a reminder.
These fundamental rights and freedoms don’t have to be enshrined in any written document. After all, a constitution doesn’t have to be written; England has no written constitution, yet these fundamental rights and freedoms are engraved in the English culture, values, society and democratic practice, as they are supposed to be in all democracies around the world. That is why the Bill of Rights is considered by many to be the crown jewel of our new Constitution. For without it, all the other governance structures, institutions, legislations and values would be meaningless. One can legitimately argue that without the fundamental rights and freedoms contained in the Bill of Rights, the sovereignty of the people would be a hollow promise.
When rogue elements within the state, a faction within government, or militias act separately or in concert in an oppressive, undemocratic or authoritarian manner, the people have a God-given right not just to register their opposition to such acts through condemnation; they have a corresponding right and duty to demonstrate their opposition by picketing peacefully, and if the repression continues, by taking up arms against their oppressors.
Waving placards, chanting slogans, walking and running in groups – small or large – in public spaces, in order to show disapproval of an act the people deem undemocratic, illegal, unconstitutional or illegitimate - is as old as the world itself. Throughout history, mass action is the last course of action the people have and reserve to stem injustice and excesses. All over the world, mass action has led to the popular replacement of repressive governments and even the revolutionization of society. We saw it during the French Revolution. We saw it again during the American Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution against the British Empire. It was visible again and again during apartheid regime in South Africa. India during its independence struggle against British colonialism; African Americans during the civil rights movement; and Latin America during the fight against military juntas; taught the world about the power of mass movement. Here in Kenya, it was mainly mass action – not armed struggle – that swept the autocratic regime of Daniel arap Moi from power. And it has been largely to mass action that Kenyans have successfully staved off imminent relapse to autocracy since 2003.
I dare say that had it not been for mass action, we might now have a completely autocratic and brutal regime in Nairobi; suppressing dissent, clamping down on the media, detaining political opponents, maiming and killing those viewed as threats to its survival. Those brave Kenyans who poured onto the streets with nothing but their bare hands, twigs and placards, shouting “Haki Yetu!” are truly the real heroes we should be praising; not the African Union.
What options did the people really have in the face of the most egregious assault on their popular and democratic will? What options did the ODM leadership have in the face of a regime unwilling to cede power? Had the ODM leadership trained, armed and commanded a military force to oppose the flagrant abuse of the people’s democratic right to vote for a government of their choice; would there be a country called Kenya today? Had the millions of people that voted for ODM resolved to fight fire with fire, how many deaths would we have had?
We can still remember what happened in Rwanda in 1994; can’t we? We can still see the smoldering fires in Somalia; can’t we? We can still remember what happened to Uganda, Angola, Mozambique and Sudan; can’t we? Innocent Africans have been massacred in their hundreds of millions fighting liberation, factional and civil wars. Tens of millions have died needlessly following civilian and military coups. The fact that Kenya did not lose more lives is mainly due to the maturity and restraint of the ODM leadership. The regular police, administration police, the GSU and the Mungiki were armed and let loose on innocent demonstrators. The demonstrators were numerous but unarmed. Had the ODM leadership secured arms for them or asked the millions of demonstrators to resort to violence, those shouting about mass action wouldn’t find their voices. We should all be grateful that Raila Odinga exercised restraint during that period; not insult him with nonsensical insinuations. How many people would have graciously agreed to share power with someone everyone knew he had handsomely thrashed?

And since when did peaceful mass action become illegal? Let's stop this shameless hyupocrisy. You look at Miguna's statement denouncing public and peaceful demonstrations in Ahero and remembering his defence of ODM demonstrators one wonders when the law changed. Phil, if burning MM in effigy & burying his mock coffin is ODM's idea of peaceful mass action then mass action be damned! Just because the Nyando mob moved as one in relative peace (amongst themselves) does not mean their mock funeral was not really an act of hatred & intolerance. All this with a sitting ODM MP, Outa, presiding over the macabre incident that has not yet been condemned by either ODM nor its progressive Jakom. Today burn his effigy; tomorrow lynch the man. Little wonder mass action in '07/'08 went so awry & led to mass murder...

My take is these people are in great shock over the utter failure by Miguna to deliver on the promised KO. Makomwenga, as always you are off the mark. You were anticipating an uppercut for an immediate KO & have failed to register the kung fu Dim Mak, aka the "touch of death". Like the drip, drip, drip of Chinese water torture the initial hit will appear as benign, & yet you're already a casualty ;D

I stand to be corrected by history but the only casualty in this whole MMS is Miguna and his followers--genuine or otherwise albeit to varying degrees. I am running out of handkerchiefs to hand out maybe you can help yourself to one? I am sure you can! ;D

Mass action Phil? Is that Inglis or some other Muttersprache? While you tolerate the attack on Miguna's home because he opposed Raila, in terms that I agree with Ngunyi to border on bedroom exposes, remember that Raila is seeking votes from areas which can import intolerance "Made in Luo Nyanza". I guess the loser is the one who bolted with the Gullible 7's cash eh!
Mass action, threat to rights to dissent? Mass inaction is the last thing I expect of the PM. May be it is human nature to celebrate the plight of others. Civility should jerk the PM to some aspect of humanity. He should, and I have no two ways about it, he should SAY NO don't touch Miguna's family because of Miguna.
Do you read the Bible? What do you think of Ezekiel 18:2 "The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge"?

I have been to the ground and nothing of that sort happened. In any case, the demo was in Ahero township which is several kilometers from the Miguna homestead. Those villagers are going on about their usual lives without much ado unlike diasporans on the internet who rely on distortions fed to them by mainstream press in Kenya.

Is this the peaceful mass action that phil is saying it is distorted for diasporans?
